Post she's here!! special thanks to chris @ technodyne!

ok so i'm rather psyched, new p-car chassis is here, up from Tempe AZ (Technodyne) via Terry @ Kustomizecarriers.com -- finally got around to uploading some pics (been busy prepping the chassis for the engine/tranny swap).

holy bling-bling car carrier batman!
<img src="http://www.csh.rit.edu/~dmoffitt/chassis01.jpg" alt=" - " />

unloading... onto jefferson road lol!
<img src="http://www.csh.rit.edu/~dmoffitt/chassis02.jpg" alt=" - " />

hm... she's got... "hips" - widebody
<img src="http://www.csh.rit.edu/~dmoffitt/chassis03.jpg" alt=" - " />

the old p-car - like an organ donor
<img src="http://www.csh.rit.edu/~dmoffitt/chassis04.jpg" alt=" - " />

something's missing under there...
<img src="http://www.csh.rit.edu/~dmoffitt/chassis05.jpg" alt=" - " />

tomorrow i'm gonna rewire pretty much the whole car, josh is pulling the old motor/tranny, and i'm HOPING (baring any major concerns, which, knowing my luck, we'll have some) to have it @ the MCC/Valeo autoX in rochester on sunday. i doubt it'll have windows or more than seats re: the interior, but god i just wanna get her moving under her own power again.

somehow, i don't think it'll be ready for another week or two tho. oh well, we'll see!!

Very cool.
I kinda know what you're going through. My first car was hmm damaged. I bought a donor shell and transfered all the good stuff over. Took me much longer than you will, but it's sure worth the effort.

You're starting with a much cooler shell <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Glad it arrived safely. It's always a bit of a worry. What bling bling freight company did you use?

Absolutely sweet car!!! Thanks for posting the pics. If I wasn't so far along with my track car project, I surely would have tried to buy Chris's car when it became available. Timing is EVERYTHING!!!

I am assuming you are swapping over the stock wiring harness?? If so, you will probably want to remove as much of the unneccessary wiring and relays as possible. The stock wiring harness (in total) is very heavy.

When you have a chance, please shoot some photos of the front and rear suspension. The rear suspension uses the Kokeln piece which is very nice. And, I think Chris has done some unique things with the front suspension that would be nice to see.

Oh . . . and shoot some photos of the interior and roll cage too!!

I'm jealous!!!

I just noticed something else when I was looking at the pictures. What kind of brake lights does the car have? Did Chris modify the tail light section somehow? In the pictures, I can't discern if the tail lights are actually lights or if they are decals??

How about turn signals for the street? Does the car have any?

shipping co. was kustomizecarriers.com - terry was great (there was a bit of a hickup re: the delivery date, kinda frustrating, but he was good after that about following up / communicating).

jeff - there's simply black vinly on the tails. i'm going to try and duplicate that effect with either some tint film, or translucecnt paint (as i have an extra 2 sets of tails to practice on).

re: the wire harness, i'm not sure exactly how i plan to do that, i'm actually thinking of making my own custom one, nylon-sleeving and heat-shrinking (the ends) every pair for organization, fire-braiding over it for heat protection, cuz yeah, the factory one is HUGE and heavy. plus i don't like the idea of a brittle / worn out 17-year-old harness. we'll see..... today is 'wiring day' anyway

chris is now racing a 996 i believe. gone over to the dark side *shrugs*

I don't know about you, but I hate trying to follow wiring when something goes wrong. Save yourself the headaches and make a wiring diagram, color code everything (and write it down), or at least label stuff. The other day at work I was following 50' of wire in a 3' x 3' tray, took at least 3 hours...

Cool car.

That car has a pedigree/history for sure. I've seen Chris drive it quite a few times at a couple of different So Cal tracks.

You've got some big shoes to fill if that car ever sees a race track! :-)

i'm thinking of re-doing the entire wiring as i started looking @ it tonight, chris obviously did a good job, and left everything "Essential" ala race-car style, but i need some stuff like turn signals, corner lamps, etc etc... if i do, i'll either purchase a brand new factory harness, or, i'm considering going TEC3 for engine, and some stack gauges (or similar) and then just making up my own setup of switches and relays for otehr functions (as i don't care about the interior looking stock/factory.

I pulled out the dash (quite the chore, as chris i think had the cage welded in around it) and modified it a bit, and will be covering it in alcantera to match my new seats, took the center console out of my old car (nice to have a parts chassis), boy do i have my work cut out. a friend / the manager of a local shop is helping by doing almost all the work pulling the motor from the old car, freeing me to do the new chassis's interior / wiring / etc.

skip - i won't forget i owe you a ride, and no, i haven't been sleeping much lately
