More info:

I reached out again to Alex @ Fabspeed (BTW a super great guy to deal with) to see if the pipes came unpolished as some of you (including myself) are looking to have them Swain Tech thermal coated.

13 polished pieces are in stock ready to ship. If unpolished was needed, he could have them made but because polishing is part of their manufacturing process, the price would not change significantly.

I also contacted Swain Tech Coatings and although, a shame to cover such beauty, the polished piece will thermal coat as well as unpolished.

stay tuned...

Kurt and NP

As I have been the recipient of other's legwork, it's a pleasure to take a turn.

Obviously, if we go with the Fabspeed product this is not an option but it may be an option with RG...why do you think it's so much better? (please don't tell me to go search...LOL)

Imo the V band it's much easier to get tight plus there's not much room in there it also gives you a little bit more fudge factor

To answer some questions -
- yes the nuts between the 3" dp and turbine housing are a bit finicky to get tight, but I didn't find it to be a big deal.
- yes, the dp downstream three bolts/studs are welded and do not slip or turn
- why not go V-band? If I had gone with a Tial or other V-band turbine housing, then I would have gone V-band on the dp. But since my turbine takes studs, that's the way I went. I have had no problems with bolting the exhaust to the dp.
- I have no idea what the back-pressure and performance advantages of 3" are over 2.75"...but I do know that the rest of my exhaust is 3" so I don't see the point in going smaller, especially since I really didn't suffer any significant fitment problems. With that said, I'm sure the Fabspeed dp's are great.

After much thought and input from Ian, Alex @ Fabspeed and Tommy @ RG, I've decided (feel free to disagree) that the deal Alex is offering shouldn't be passed up.

$225 (contingent on 10 orders) is a great price for the Fabspeed piece. Although Ian's 3" pipe is also beautiful, it doesn't make sense to venture into the unknown when a tried and true quality piece is being offered at such a discounted cost.

I will start a new thread with the details of the group buy.

Please forgive me if I stopped prematurely pursuing the RG pipe. When pricing became apparent to surpass the mark, it made no sense to continue. After all...that was the original point of this thread.

In the real world, does the Fabspeed 2.75" downpipe fit the Lindsey 3" steel exhaust ?

Default Fabspeed downpipe group buy 2016

Bumping this old thread since I have been looking for a 2.75"/3" dp for a while and wondering if we can muster enough buyers again that fabspeed will be so generous to bring back their discount on a group buy.

I just bought their down-pipe... it is a thing of beauty. They were able to price match the other ones on the market for me.

So give em a call and see if they'll price match the broadfoot one as an example.
