Cool

The TT is faster and I love it. But, bang for the buck, even an air cooled sicko like me must admit the 951s are great cars. The balance, handling, and power out of the box has to be one of Porsche's best. IMHO, the only drawback is the two miles of hoses under the hood.

Hi Bruce,

Are you looking for street car, track car, or something in-between?

Bruce,

The 993TT is a GREAT car, looks and performance are awesome. However, few mods to the 951, and you'll be surprised which car is faster.

Hope you find a good 951, and welcome to the 951 club!

Bruce, if you insist on a low milege model and especially a low milege S model, it will not be that cheap to buy...ask me how I know... I also understand that 951s are pretty rare in CO.... good luck...

Cheap is a relative term. . .
I doubt $20K is all that "expensive" for a 993TT owner.

Bruce, you will love the 951. I miss my former one every day. They put the power down very well over 3500 rpms, are aerodynamically flawless, and the best balanced of any Porsche I've ever driven.

The cat's been out of the bag for a while about what a superior platform the 951 presents for modifying, so you may have to be very very patient with your search if your goal is to start from scratch with a pristine one.

Great bunch of owners on this board, too.

Good luck.

Two miles of hoses? I think the hose complexity on the 951 is overestimated. I was afraid of it too when I bought one, but since I've taken it all apart, I've been surprised at how straightforward it is.

Good luck finding one!

Thanx for the encouragement - I would like this car to be as close to original as possible, except for maybe chip, exhaust, etc. My track days are mostly behind me. I will be patient and am willing to pay for the right car. I only need one.

I'm a Colorado local who has a 88 944 Turbo S. I track it fairly regularly and I've definitely passed a few 993TT's. Not certain thay I want to sell mine, but I'll entertain offers. You're welcome to come up and see it.

It's a Silver Rose with rollbar and SRD seats (still have mint original sport seats) K27DR, Welt. sway bars, double adjustable Koni coilovers, Camber plates, 3 sets wheels/tires, etc. Very nice with 83k original miles.

If you're interested in going far afield, there's a 1989 944 Turbo S advertised in our local Auto Trader: 54,000 km (about 33,000 miles). It's in Niagara Falls, Ontario, phone 905-351-3666. No price given. White/black int., leather sports seats, Autothority Stage 2 chips. Also, check out the PCA:UCR site; IIRC there's a 1990 951 there.

Thumbs up

Bruce - the 951 has a terrific power even in stock form, perfect balance and is so well laid out. I can't believe sometimes that my car is 14 years old.
