Question Turbo water keeps on running?..

Washed my motor bay today, and after that I noticed that the turbo chargers water pump was running;
I thought that its something to do with the moisture, or something. Started the engine, let it idle for a while, and shut it down. The pump was on for 20 sec, as it is supposed to, so no problem, I thought..
Just now, more than 5 hrs after the washing, I went to the garage, and what do you know, it was running again?
I took the pump relay away, so it naturally stopped. Put it back, and it kept silent.
Started the engine, and shut it down.
And the pump kept on pumpin and pumpin and.. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

So, what is the problem, bad relay, or some heat sensor or time sensor or or

it sounds like the relay needs to be replaced, if the problem was anything else the pump should have started up again when you reinstalled the relay. Sometimes relay contacts will stick until you remove the power source.

Relay or the sender, but prob. the relay. Dry both with a hair dryer and try it out.

I think alot of us have made that mistake or I have anyway, ran my battery down.

All was ok after stuff dried out.

I've also had the same problem. It took my temp sensor a loooong time to dry out but it does. In the meantime, pull the relay.

Generally never the relay - but you can pull the relay to stop the pump from running continuosly

BTW, Try this first - Pull the old sensor completely, and give it a few hard taps, than re-install. Worked once for me – so you have nothing to lose.

I suspect once it shorts out you need a new one though.

I try to wash a motor bay when the engine is warm (not that I do it often), the heat helps dry things off faster.
