That looks nice Antti, any ideas when it will be finished?

I love that I got into this "sport" when I did. There's so many cool upgrades now becoming available... (now I just have to save some money to purchase them all).

Lol I just removed the short shifter on my S2. Its all about preference, I prefer the stock feel. It can be done with some minimal time on your back although I had to jack the car up. XS you must be one small dude lol

I have the same setup and replaced the factory top rubber grommet ended rod on the linkage with two heim joints and a stud with LH threads on one end and RH threads on the other. I reused the stock shifter **** and boot by drilling down thru the plastic **** with a 3/4" (IIRC) drill and securing the **** to the LR shifter with a cotter pin run straight thru the shifter **** and shifter under the boot. Looks completely stock and has a very tight and precise feel...not too short...not too long.

I'm 6'2" and 225. I have an 18" Magnaflow with the factory heatshield that I didn't have to remove either. The key is long arms and good lighting LOL. Normally I sell them for $178 on request. I am doing another run this weekend for the Turbo guys at $158 shipped USPS PRIORITY to any US-48

Paypal to: rmott@ouhsc.edu

I'll ship on Tuesday. Thanks, Rob

Wow.. I just got my shifter kit from xschop today, installed in about 20 minutes. The feel is amazing, definitely one of the best mods I've done on this car. My original plastic linkage piece was well worn and causing lots of slop in the shifter.

That piece xschop makes looks excellent but for someone in my case if your long shift rod that runs the length of the torque tube is completely out of round at the front where the shift lever is inserted you are always going to have slop. I have seen the bushings you can purchase and seen other threads where people have made their own bushings using ford door hing bushings or something.

My question or suggestion is would it be possible to cut the little nub off the shifter lever, drill a hole, insert and weld a threaded rod in its place? Then you could tightly bolt the shift lever to the shift rod eliminating slop and any more wear on the rod. I posed this to a friend who told me it would not be possible because the shift lever needs to be able to rotate in the shift rod. Is this true? I thought I had seen someone on here do that but I cannot find the thread to post it here.

I did just that and posted the mod with the weld-in pin dimensions. I also posted how to shorten the front factory **** as well while you're at it. It can be done with a hack-saw and dremel tool as well. It doesn't shorten the throw much, just gives more console/head unit clearance.

Awesome, thank you. I can't see the images because you have to be a member but at least I know it is possible. I will join that forum anyway since it looks like a good source for info.

Thanks!

Any chance you could post those pics and instructions here - maybe in a new thread? I'd really like to shorten my lever but keep the factory ****.

I think the SSK linkage arrived for me today too, but I haven't opened the box yet... been a long day, just got home and put the kiddo to bed, now my Rangers are on tv. Priorities

(besides, if I open it right now, someone's gonna ask me if I'm still spending money on this car... )
