So what happened to the car to precipitate all this?

I had a A/C hard line that cracked so I've spent the last two summers with no A/C in Phoenix. That was one reason to do this. The other is that my car was leaking oil from everywhere. I needed to pull the engine to replace the hardline and the rest is the result of "while I'm in there" syndrome.

Got the tires mounted today. Babies got new shoes!!!!!!!!

The wheels look a lot darker with the tires mounted. Possibly a bit too dark. I'll wait until I see them on the car to know for sure.

I have those same tires on my Bimmer. I've been quite pleased with them, especially at their price point. My only complaint is that they're not run-flats... Which, is actually a good thing in my book, (cause run-flats suck) except that BMW felt that I didn't need a spare. So I guess that's not really a complaint about the tire, just the inconvenience of having to wait for AAA...

I made an amazing discovery this weekend. The parts of my engine and suspension are not made out of 100% grease and road grit. Also my engine and suspension bolts come in other colors than "grime black".
It's going to be really nice when the primary material on my car by weight is not, "old oil".

This weekends score:

A bazillion greasy parts cleaned
One engine most of the way together
Two studs broken off in the turbo
One turbo mount bolt stripped and drilled out(That was the hardest damn bolt I've ever seen SOAB!!!!)
One clutch bolt stripped and drilled out
One rear cam gear cover busted when the engine fell over while I was drilling out the clutch bolt.(Glad I wasn't using that cover on the new engine)
Engine bay pressure washed and almost spotless.

I used nearly an entire bottle of Eagle One Etching Mag Wheel Cleaner on my engine block and various other aluminum parts. That stuff is a combination of 3 different acids, and it does a great job of restoring aluminum to the bright color that you'd expect, short of polishing. Just make sure you rinse off any overspray onto painted areas very quickly .

Lake Pleasant Drive and Happy Valley.

For those not in Phoenix, yes, those are real street names.
