Vintage Weekend
I am off to Watkins Glen for the weekend – its time for the Fall Vintage Races!
Lots of cool cars (BTW – they consider the 944s to be a vintage car and several usually show up).
On Friday afternoon they close down the main street of the village and have a reenactment of the original street course. The race cars come down from the track and do parade laps – really neat to watch. Beer and food is sold right out on the street and there are many different car shows all day on Friday.
After the parade laps the streets remain closed for a block party of thousands of diehard car fans….
Weather is supposed to be prefect Central NY fall – mid 70’s and cool in the evening.
If anybody wants to drop by I’ll be camping at the bus stop – look for a big Black/Red/Silver Barth RV flying the Porsche flag.

You're making me homesick. I attended that event every year from 1993 to 2005 when I lived in Western New York, before moving to Florida. I actually flew up for it last year. It is probably THE best vintage event I've ever attended and participated in. I almost went back this year but couldn't quite pull-off the timing. The only sad part of the event was that it usually marked the beginning of the end of the vintage sports car season before the colder weather set in. Man...I wish I could go! Well, have a good time.

Sounds like a good time. I have never seen a picture of that many middle aged white men in my life.... maybe I can find a picture of the RNC, lol. Will you be posting more pictures of the event? Have fun.
