Need help guys!
I just got my first 944 turbo and its also my first time driving one. It didnt feel as fast as it should have, so i install a boost gauge to see how much boost i was getting. What i got was 2nd gear 5 psi, 3rd 7psi, 4th 8psi, 5th 9psi, which seems low,it also would start losing boost at around 4.5 - 5k, the car have 82k. What could be the problem? bov, wastegate, cat, turbo(doesn't blow smoke).
Thanks
Thanks

Check all your hoses coming from the turbo to the intercooler and intercooler to intake. If these have a split in them (which seems to always happen on the underside) you'll lose most of your boost. Good luck.

I agree with Robert. I changed all the vacuum hoses, cooling hoses and turbo boots along with other major maintenance items this past winter. I HAD to be leaking vacuum and boost through multiple old and cracked hoses. Changing all the hoses is a fairly big job, but if you're careful and mark everything, change one hose at a time, you'll be OK. Good luck.

After checking your hoses - try this.
There's a curcular connector in the engine bay on the driver's side of the car. Look for black cover as you follow the edge of the engine compartment from the windshield to the front of the car, it's about a foot or two down on the side. Open it up, and get a LED and a 1k ohm resistor. Attach the resistor to one leg of the LED.
There's one terminal (out of five) that's by itself. That's "C". Clockwise, they are (from C) C, +, A, B, and LED.
Connect the negative lead to the LED terminal, and the positive lead to the + terminal. The negative lead on the LED is the shorter one that's next to the flat spot on the casing. The positive lead is the longer one.
do this after driving the car, running it through the gears, etc, but DO NOT shut the car off. The computer resets if you do - so while idling, open the hood, and do this test.
It'll flash out sets of numbers, if the KLR thinks something is wrong. You'll get something like FLASH-Pause - FLASH - FLASH which is a "1-2"
Post those error codes back, and we should be able to help pretty fast. If you don't get ANY flashes - then unplug the Throttle Position Sensor (that black thing on the trottle body) and that will force an error code - to insure that you're hooked up right.
What year is the Turbo anyway? Welcome to Rennlist!
HTH!
(Ps - I'm in Amherst NH - if you need another set of eyes on the car...)

those numbers do seem really low.Check all of your boost lines and hoses. Also 951's are known for there wastegate problems...i.e. weak spring..try shimming the wastegate and see if that helps your low boost problem...goodluck and welcome to the 951 family!
