Default Refresh951's Fall Project

The 951 was pretty much maxed out at 247 rwhp, 323 ft-lbs torque. This was with the K26/6, modified A-Tune, E85, Tial 38, and 18 psi. Drove it a lot this summer and was happy but because I HAVE A DISEASE it was not good enough.

I bought a DBB TO4E .50 trim garrett turbo with a replica KKK#8 turbine housing from a fellow lister. My goal is to produce around 325 rwhp with good torque without sacrificing to much of the bottom end performance. My hope is that this turbo along with my S2 AOT tranny (3.875 vs 3.375 ring and pinion) will make a really fun street car.

I am also upgrading from the A-Tune to the M-tune and will be going to the dyno sometime before the end of September.

Awesome! I'm going to save my pennies and tackle something like this next fall.

I just put all of my coolant hoses and coolant crossover pipe back in today, then got the M-Tune pipe installed. That thing is TIGHT with a 26/6. Do you know if there are any clearance issues with the tree pipe with a larger turbo inlet?

I know a few listers have installed the M-Tune with the larger turbo inlet. I heard it is tight but it fits. My old LR MAF was really tight also. Just not a lot of room to work with in there. My M-Tune has not arrived yet but when it does I will post some pics.

By the way, love your project thread.

I just did this too. All came together finally last month. Garrett T3/4r DBB w/ 50 trim compressor, stg 3 turbine, #10 hot housing, 3" downpipe, 4" exhaust, 72lb injectors, M-tune. I did a bunch of other stuff while in there also like having all the coolant and hard lines, brackets, heatshields yellow zinc plated; installing a nissan quest alternator and braided fuel lines etc.

Josh has been awesome with his product support for M-tune. I can't speak more highly of his product or customer service. You will enjoy the setup.

I still wish it made more power however....

Completely agree about Rogue, I have worked with him on my A-Tune and E85 modified A-Tune and been a very satisfied customer.

That looks great. Have you been to the dyno? What kind of power did you see?

Put it on race fuel or e85 and turn up the boost. That combo should make great power!!

M-tune fits fine with 3inch compressor inlet. Can maintain the stock headlight bracket without fouling on the air filter as well. Nissan quest alternator is easy to do, very cheap ($120 new), makes everything look much cleaner and gives a huge amount of clearance. I would hate to do any larger turbo install without it.

I have been meaning to put a thread together about my build but here is another picture. Don't really want to hijack refresh951's thread.

Yes. That is planned. Have been ironing out some issues with the tune for just 93 octane before trying E85. Still not convinced that I will be happy with how much power it's making though. I guess I was spoiled with my last project car.

Also I somehow I keep pulling bits off the car. Right now the dash and instrument cluster is apart..

that turbo will be perfect for your goal, i wouldn't be suprised if it spooled slightly quicker then the 26/6 with the #8 hot side and a 3D Timing map @ WOT

Cannot wait to see the end result!

Looks very similar to mine T04E and AOT trans. Even with the 26/6 the AOT is a great mod for the car.

Alex,

I have Rob's AOT and his TO4E turbo. When do you expect to have your car running? I really like the AOT. I have been running it with the K26/6 for a couple months now and love how it keeps the car naturally at higher RPM's in the lower gears.
