Question Brake Master Cylinder

Any one know if the Mercedes 25mm BrakeMC would bolt right in my 86'951?

I have excessive pedal travel, Big Reds in Front, Front calipers Rear.

I just put big reds up front with stock rears. My peddle is firm with stock master cylinder. Are you sure you can't improve with a good brake flush? Also, what bias valve did you choose, and what are your impressions at the limit? Which wheels lock up first? Thanks.

I have an 86 951. Big reds on the front .. and stock brakes on the back. I updated the brake M/C to the 87 -89 one. It is bigger. I have the tilton brake bias valve. My brakes are hard as a rock! I had to adjust bias to the front as back brakes would lock up pretty easily. Thus no need to upgrade the size in the back. This setup has worked extremely well on my race car.

I thought the hot setup was to move the front caliper to the rear when upgrading to Big Reds -- at least that's what I planned on doing, so I didn't mind spending $200 rebuilding the calipers. Tell me I didn't spend my money for nothing!

Since the weight shift puts about 80% of the braking effort on the fronts in hard braking most people just say forget it to changing out the rears.

Brembo put out a couple papers on this but I lost them when my hard drive crashed. Maybe you can find them on their web site. Danno at GuruRacing.net probably has a bunch of papers on this if you e-mail him.

No need to change out the rears .. they are fine. Bigger is always better ... but I already had too much brake in the back with stock. All the guys I race with .. use this setup. I dont think there is anything wrong with upgraded rears .. I just dont think there is much of an advantage.

My Rear calipers were shot then, so I replaced that with my fronts when installing the BRs.

Found the Mercedes 500E brake MC, a 25mm. P/N 004.430.75.01. CHEAP! $70.0

However, I doubt it would bolt in the 951, the Mercedes MC is much longer.

Someone from the earlier posts mentioned that the Mercedes MC should bolt right in.

Have anyone installed this before?

944Turbo,

Could you share the details on how your Tilton adjustable valve was installed. What kind of customizing is necessary? Thanks. I actually bought a Wilwood adjustable bias valve today from a local Nascar race shop for $42. I thought it was a great deal, but now I need someone to install it for me.
