Post Dyno Results

Its been a long time in progress, but we finally have some dyno results of the AMW Red turbo race car. The entire build process of this car is being built on our website under "projects", as is the build of the AMW Yellow race car.

We are running the "Unichip Program" for fuel and timing. It took a total of three hard days on the dyno to get it tuned. We have video of the tuning that will be added to the project page as well. Long hard, sustained pulls at full throttle..it pretty much ran an 8 hour enduro race on the dyno..Punished pretty bad, but not one oil leak, no problems other than a miss from a bad spark plug on the four cylinder.

Here are the sheets.

Very nice.

Are you leaving it at that boost level? Seems like there's a lot more in that engine with a little more boost. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have that engine in my car generating those kinds of numbers with 14 PSI. Just curious.

You know I didn't think anything of it...till I saw the boost levels...

Very cool...engine's a bit peaky but it should be great for a race engine.

Now that dropping torque curve...not as bad as some I've seen.

Is this a 2.8L? If so, is it a stroker or a 106mm bore?

Its bore. The car started as an NA, then it was supercharged at another shop. When we got it, it was decided to rebuild the engine, and convert it to a turbo. I know people have a preference, but mine is turbo for the track. Its solid and proven for road racing.

Our goal from the get go was easy on the boost, good power...and room to add boost if its needed down the road.

340 may not sound like a ton of power for a 2.8, but at less than 1 bar, it can be driven on the mat all day long without breaking a sweat. Reliability is key. We may crank it a notch or two as time goes on...who knows.

We have also added a fuel cell, cut the fenders and added a wide body kit, fabed aluminum wheel wells...installed crhomoly tube adjustable A arms...now a new paint paint job and some fat flintstones on rear should finish it off. We will be at Willow Spring on the Tribute Weekend. If anyone from the list is there, stop by for a while.

Take Care!

Here's a link to the page on our website that shows a few pictures of the car in progress. Text is on the way, but for now, there are just pictures. We will also be adding video of the dyno tuning..the car sounds wicked...you can hear the turbo through the exhuast and intake...it sounds like a 747.

I think we might have to use a little duct tape on the spoiler rig...but it looks like it might add a little down force...and it's cheap!
