You're talking about a DP straight from the turbo to atmosphere?

I would not run from stock downpipe location might set you car on fire, but you could fab a pipe to run out the side

I'm talking about the downpipe from the turbo with nothing attached to it.

permanently? I would make a pipe to dump it elsewhere. Just to move it around the yard? Sure.

I started it up just to hear it, in my garage on jackstands, would love to just drive it around a little bit. I figured that it wouldn't be good to do since it just dumps the exhaust in the engine bay.

yes you can, but , add some kind of extension to blow the exaust down and back some more after the dowpipe. . and don't make it a permanent thing . It will be very FUN. Gt2's are basically run as open down pipes. just a simple exhaust tube mounted directly to the turbo hot side and pointed out back. Very awesome turbo spool noises at free revs.

Turbo's often flame out of the pipes on overun, Often moreso if modded. Even stock cars will flame if pushed. You will flame out of the pipe and the wastegate pipe if its seperate. You have to make sure that anyflames won't cause a problem. Side exit is really the minimum you can get away with. I run open pipes but out the back.

I just built a full straight exhaust for my car and it is a LOT of fun to drive around with! But it is WAY to loud. I would not reccomend running the car without at least 1-1.5 feet of pipe off of the downpipe or you will probably catch your car on fire.

Just build a pipe that runs parallel to the chassis and turn it down towards the ground ... but be prepared to inhale some sweet exhaust.

I doubt I will drive it like this. Although around the block once would be fun. I just wanted to know if by having it idle would hurt anything.

Idle.. it wont do much,

How good are your fab skills?

either find or make a 3 bolt flange and weld a 2.5 inch pipe all the way down and slightly face it towards the back and to the ground so if flame shoot out it hits the floor.

Haha what fab skills. I can take stuff apart and put things back together. I don't have a welder or grinder although now I wish I did. I'm going to be replacing my cat section of the exhaust since mine is all rigged up. I will determine what I will do with my old stock cat at that point.
