Your compressor maps are very helpfull. I have recently started using them to help me understand some mods I plan on making on my car. Could you help me undertand how I would extrapolate that dat to make sure I pick the right turbos for my setup?
I am unsure what info I need from my current engine,(or future engine) to pick the right turbos?
Do I need intake CFMs?
Do I need displacement numbers?
Do I need expected boost levels?
ETC?
TIA,
Brendan Campion

Danno,
I used a adjustable cam gear on the 4000cs Turbo Quattro I built and while it was a sluggish beast
in low rpms (I set the cam timing at about 3 degrees retarded) 50-100 was pretty freakin' cool at 12psi.

Brendan, I recommend:
[*]Turbochargers - Mcinnes[*]Maximum Boost - Corky Bell[*]Spearco intercoolers catalog[/list=a]I'm afraid I'd be plagiarizing their work too much to fully answer your question.
Russ, Good to hear about an Audi, did you have a 016 gearbox in that 4000? Did it have a torsen diff?

I have an 86' 4000s quatt with 250,000 miles. I love that car. Actually feels lighter than my pcar for some reason?

Danno,
I don't know for sure (I don't have the car anymore unfortunately, I sold it to buy my 951) but I believe the manual mentioned the Torsen and I sure beleived that to be the case. It was an '86. I bought another one last yeaar for $200.00!
It's been thrashed but I'm slowly making it functional. Just got a Maaco $250.00 paint job.
Alpine White of course.
Luke,
I think it feels light because it is. I weighed the beater and it sits at 2750 with half a tank.
The turbo car I built was down to 2600! (No AC, rebuilt the front end with tubular stock, etc.)
I drove the car at the Gateway Porsche DE and man
we were hammerin' on the 911's and 951's in our run group(beginner). One session was on a wet(rain) track.

I weighed the cars at a materials supply scale.
They weighed them with and without me and the difference was 182lbs which is correct unfortunately. If you do the math based on the data in the door frame (gross vehicle weight less passenger and cargo capacity) it comes out to about 2800 lbs.

Thanks Danno -
I suppose I have some reading to do!
I am planning on supercharging, but since a vortech is essentially a belt driven turbo, I guess compressor maps are going to be somewhat similar.
Thanks,
