Post Link AFM update and Link 1 & 2 systems

Link Electro systems has upgraded the AFM MAP firmware to include full programmable boost as a function of RPM. All new AFM MAP units will have this feature added. This will require a solenoid to be used and based upon boost targets, a larger 3 port type may be required. Link will offer this part if required. The hope is that the factory unit will suffice most applications to lower overall price.

All existing AFM users can return their AFM units for an upgrade for a nominal upgrade charge of $ 99.00.

Link 1 and 2 systems are now available thro Guru Racing, Kokeln Racing, Huntley Racing and Performance Developments and other tuners. We are currently manufacturing complete terminated harnesses for these applications. More information can be had by calling your tuner of choice.

Checking my mail now... will get back to those with questions...

"Does this mean you will be able to control boost at any rpm point or just specific rpm points?

Will it work with are stock cycling valve?"

Yes you control boost across the entire RPM range like a fuel-curve. You'll actually enter a duty-cycle number to drive the stock cycling valve. You can also use an aftermarket normally-open solenoid like the ones that come on the Profec or AVC-R.

This is way to add value to the MAP upgrades since they are very similar in price and some people have been conflicted between choosing the MAP Upgrade vs. a complete EFI system.

The distinction I like to use is based on the user, not the upgrades. The simpler, easier to program and adjust MAP upgrades are for those who have occasional upgrades, say once or twice a year who just needs to dial in some corrections.

The more involved EFI system are for those who are constantly upgrading, say every couple of months, who may have a track-only car and wants complete control over their engine-management.

Nope, we'll just be using the same boxes, but with additional programming for controlling boost. And one more wire to hook up, that's all. A 3-port boost-solenoid will be offered as an extra item for those who've tossed their cycling-valves.

How does it compare to the avc-r?
Please tell us more about it if possible.
Do you know when you will include it in your current map kit`s? Because i plan on buying my kit in about a few weeks.
Thanks

About these "pre-terminated" harnesses... I called a couple of tuners, and apparently they don't have them and can't get them... does Link have a time when they will be available and what the MSRP is?

Sweet on the new goodies with the MAP kits. I thik that's the direction I'm heading....already have a dual-port wastegate and an MBC, ready to get the Autothority chips out and get those Guru chips in! Just gotta wait on that bonus check....hehehe

I second that....how long before the MAP kits will have the new goodies? My car is just itching for some more horses under the hood....and that bonus check money has already burnt a hole in my pocket!

Cheers!

Danno, you mention this works on the cyclic valve.

What about cars with a dual port wastegate?

also danno, to what level can this control boost with the cycling valve? i.e. can it go past 15psi etc (assuming the wastegate is up to it of course).

Danno, can we use this new feature to read our manifold boost or we still need a boost gauge?
