Post How hard to remove the cat?

I am planning on installing the Bursch test pipe soon. Soaked the bolts with PB but the cat pipe on the drivers side looks hrd to get to. I can see the 3 nuts but am not sure if I can get a socket on them. Anyone done this before?

I'd love some feedback on this as well, I'm ordering the Fabspeed testpipe.

It's not that hard. At least not on a "working on a 951" scale.

does the test pipe go around the cat or does it replace the cat? Will the cat still be there when I install a test pipe? or do I get rid of it?

I got mine off (NA) pretty easy with some wrenches. I don't know about the 951.

I got 2/3 of the driver's side nuts off. The most inboard one is frozen. Tried the impact wrench. I guess I will have to take it to a muffler shop to have them hit it with more psi.

BTW - I noticed that my O2 sensor was loose, or got vibrated loose from the impact wrench

This pic may answer a question or two. Yes, it replaces the cat. It wasn't too tough to get out but it helped having a couple of 1/2 drive extensions for those top 3 bolts. Feel the weight difference and you will know it is a worthwhile mod regardless of the flow gains.

Thanks Dan. Did you feel a definite gain in power when you installed it?

I feel like it TRANSFORMED my car. The exhaust sounds way grovier too. Take that beast to a muffler shop and have them cut out the stock muffler and have them install a kick-@$$ racing muffler right in it's place. Order it from Summit if they don't have something and have them install it.

Awesome, I'm going to get the SFR 3" teat pipe and the cat back. I think I'll feel a big difference.

regarding the cat bypass...

isn't there an emissions test in NYS? I can remember them being pretty picky about it.

in CT, I am still trying to find a way around the emissions test so I can add a test pipe...

or..is it worth the effort of having to switch back and forth each time there is an emissions test?

can I put on a 3" test pipe to replace the cat and still have it work with the stock system catback? Looks like the sfr flanges will allow the stock crush rings. Would that blow the baffles out of the stock muffler? Or just get a 2.5 inch test pipe?
Thanks

Jason
