Post tech edge w-b

Was wondering if anybody has one and has tested it with a w-b on a dyno for accuracy.

Has anybody run into any other bargain wide band units on the web?

Well, unless anybody is willing to talk me out of it, I'm ordering their ver. 1.5 today.
I looked at Lambdaboy, FJO, and the unit that Lindsey Racing is selling. Except for the FJO (which costs about $300-350 more) the Tech Edge was the only unit offering any rpm referencing.

I have one, hope to be on a dyno soon for comparison.

Seems to work very well.

David - where do you have your readout display mounted?

When I want to watch the readout now, I just hold in my hand while on the steering wheel, that way it is easy is see the road, the readout and the boost gauge on the a-piller.

I'm planning on mounting it in the center of the dash hood right above the guages. I have the SplitSecond ARM-1, don't know how size compares to yours. Will the ARM-1 work with a WB O2?

Russ, I've got one and I've been very pleased with it. At the dyno the two were very close, within a .1 or 2 of each other. Both had me 11.7 to 12.6 on boost, both slightly rich and increasing nice and slow to about 5300, where both started going a bit lean to 13.2 @ 5800. The car turned 282hp and 290 torque,,on a Mustang dyno, the guy who owns the dynojet, at Street and Performance, won't let the public use it anymore.

Ian just for your info, the display has a very long wire with it. You could put it in the hatch area..LOL. Mine is in my glove box but I pull it out and put it over by the steering wheel when I want to play with the car hard or I have changed something. It would probably fit behind the regular clock opening though.

Thanks for the info Ski. What version do you have? 1.0 or 1.5? I'm getting the 1.5 with datalogging and I'm wondering how much hoop jumping I'll have to do to use a Palm Pilot as the "guage" and the data repository.

I built two of the V 1.0 and they have a voltage issue that makes it hard to deal with. If the car voltage drops below 13 volts, the O2 heater will drop out and the O2 readings will be incorrect. I am now using the V1.0 for static testing and as long as the voltage is at 13 VDC, they are very accurate.

The V1.5 was designed to overcome this shortfall and provide RPM data logging and a Narrow Band (NB) simulation. The O2 sensors for this unit are on constant backorder, there can be long delays in delivery.

The next version, V2.0, (coming in April??) will use more common WB sensors and use the micro processor to control more of the feedback loops. I expect the first release to have issues, due to the pressure to release, but I know the problems will be solved quickly.

nine-44, I also have an ARM1 a/f gauge. I've got it mounted inside my drivers side vent. It's very slick, hidden away but completely visible for the driver. I'm not sure if the ARM1 display would work with a TechEdge wideband, but I'm also not sure why you'd want to hook it up that way. The wideband allows for accurate a/f ratios to be determined, might as well use a numeric readout.

David - glovebox sounds like a good idea, since you don't need to be constantly monitoring the thing anyways, and it'd be a shame to alter the clean look of the interior.

Nope, ARM1 wouldn't work with TechEdge. Although you can probably recalibrate it for the voltage-output of a wideband. Since the voltage output is more linear, it would be more accurate as well.

Help! As Brian predicted, I can't find any of the L1H1 NTK 5 wire sensors! Anyone got a line on one?

Go to your local Honda dealer. Order an O2 sensor for a 1995 Honda Civic hatchback (non-California model).
