Default "Almost" got beat this weekend (modded 135i)

Last time I tried one on it was a Dinan 135 and I put a couple lengths on him from a slow roll through third gear. Yesterday on a wide open flat stretch of road (late Sunday with no traffic) another one came flying up on me. I don't know if it was a Dinan car though it had large rolling stock.

I was taking the girlfriend home and cruising about 85 when he came up on me like I was sitting still. I wasn't going to play (she closes her eyes)..LOL. Anyway he hit's the brakes and keeps egging me on. Again wide open flat four lane and no traffic so...OK.

In retrospect I should have dropped to third as I'd slowed more by then giving him a chance to just go on. I turned off the A/C and went from 5th to fourth and nailed it. I typically run 17 pounds boost though haven't adjusted since the 100 degree weather (was at 16 pounds). I pulled him to 145 and figured that was fast enough. HOWEVER he was right there...never was I pulling away! The difference was the initial jump only!!

I took the exit which has a long three lane frontage road..he did too. He pulled up motioning for me to hit it. This time I pulled the infamous PiperPorsche brake boost trick in third and shot out on him. I'll have to admit he pulled some of that in and again stayed glued just off my back bumper! Little bastard was fast.

He tried motioning for a third try but I'd had enough fun by then. He did NOT look amused. Bottom line is he picked on me and never could hang a bumper on the old 944. I tried giving him thumbs up but he could not be consoled. He looked downright pissed

Wonder if he realized I had a single turbo 4 cylinder??

(on a side note: (was at a V Driving Academy recently) also got witness a CTS-V coupe race my friends 996 Ruf Turbo...he handed it too the V every which way. The V would shoot out on him every time then you hear this evil shudder sound and that RUF would shoot by like a rocket. Tried dead stop, slow roll, highway...he just spanked that 556 HP V every time! Was pretty cool to see.)

how do you know he was modded, maybe your 951 is not as fast as you think. Butt dynos are somewhat unreliables.

yeah...especially considering this is the first fast car I've ever owned (sarcasm intended).

Hmm...guess I could ask the technician friend of mine with the 2010 Camaro SS 6 speed with Borlas and crossover..that I outran from a roll.

Or the 06' CTS-V that I drove while my buddy beat me driving MY 951.

Or the Dinan 135i that I clearly checked out prior to running.

Or...the 299.8 (fixed) rwhp REAL dyno sheet that I have at only 14.7 pounds boost with a few "issues" at the time.

No, surely with a larger turbo and a handful of other mods my 951 can't possibly be very fast.

And btw...my post was VERY complimentary of the little 135i..he was damn fast. And btw, I have driven many if not most of the cars out there because I am in the car business. I know cars Luis.

Why be an ***?

Luis I like you and have defended you in the past if you recall...and bought parts from you. Just didn't feel like getting slapped this morning. Had a little fun yesterday and guess what, would have reported getting my *** handed to me as well. which i thought was going to happen!

I wasn't attacking you honestly, it was just a innocent comment not an attack. My apologies.

From a roll these cars are seriously underrated. I've yet to come across anything factory that can pull me from a roll on. My brother did pull me with a stroker 427 ls1 but it took him using his nitrous bottle to do it.

I wouldn't still be playing with this car if it didn't have great potential. They fight above their weight that's for sure.

Haha...thats a great way to put it! PLUS these cars really are light!

Though I've definately driven cars that would take it from a roll. The CTS-V I referenced in the post will do it handily.

I'll bet the 3.0L 951's on this forum must be absolutely sick from a roll!

As close as he was this just proves that it's time for a MAF upgrade, injectors and E85 conversion. Can you imagine a little more boost...

start to spool...not sure. Though always full boost by 4000 RPM's max...sooner depending on the load.

Yes..a bit laggy

Then he couldn't do it again because it will be empty..

See, nobody caught my point, what I was saying is I never bothered with any car that had less than 400hp, I was always picking C5 z06's, M5's, Viper's etc. I knew exactly how much I was putting down, I knew the weight of my car.
