Post THE 951 CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTOM!(pics)

Well, I drove the 951 down to JMU today to visit my girlfriend, and since it was such a nice day we decided to go for a little drive. First we leisurely cursed down to a little lake near by, to take a few pics. After that I was so pleased with how my car was feeling, since it has been a while since I could even get on boost, I decided to go for a bit of a "spirited" run through the twist mountain rounds. 45 minuets later while with a large grin plastered on my face I look over at my girlfriend who has her hands around her stomach and her eyes closed! Apparently the "roller costar" ride was getting to be a bit too much. I reluctantly turned back to her apartment for her sake of course. (Had nothing to do with wanting to protect my baby’s interior ) Now I sit typing on reenlist while my motion sick girlfriend sleeps in bed. Oh well. Those 45 mins. hauling in that car was well worth it! The pics are large so I linked them. Have a great day all.

Sorry about your girlfriend. However, we can still all see your grin from the "spirited" drive.

P.S. On pic 20030: no windshield washer tank?

"her eyes closed"

Sure way to get motion-sickness 100% !!! Keep your eyes open and focused on the horizon.... tip to anyone who may go sailing with me... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Nope, no washer tank. I hardly ever used them when I had them and I think it looks cleaner without it.

Danno, I KNOW! I keep telling her that. I Have always learnd when sailing or flying it's best to keep your eyes on the horizen if you are not feeling well. I hope she keeps her head up when I take her up in a 172!

Ah, Danno - thats what I did the whole way back across the Channel from England. It was night, and it was, well, the English Channel, so I had to don my winter coat, and sit out by the engines so I could see the french coast line. EVERY SINGLE person on that boat got sick but me. IT WAS HELL! Next time I do that, I'm taking the damn hover craft for twice the fair.

Yeah, I think motion-sickness can be trained out. Partly through experience in how you manage your body and how many times it's had to deal with it. I used to get queezy if I run below in my boat to pick up a jacket or something (23-ft sailboat). One time I was in the galley cleaning off a barracuda we just caught, so I was looking down into a sink. Took no more than 2 minutes before I was yacking over the side.

But after several years of that, I'm cured! I think the body is highly adaptable. I can drive quickly up and down mountain passes or even jump out of a perfectly good airplane without my ears getting clogged .

The Navy supposedly has a simulator that will train motion-sickness out of their pilots. Kinda like a video-game where they give you 1st-person view out of the cockpit. Then the simulator rolls and pitches and you're supposed to practice anticipating the motion and focusing your eyes on a certain region that cancels the motion (it's not always the horizon, but close).

And then, there ARE people who are hopeless and beyond help, like my mom. All I have to do is make wavy motions with my hands and she'll get seasick... at the dinner table in our house!!!

For some reason I have never got motion sickness. I think it comes from riding the zipper for hours at the local carnivals when I was a kid.

Never had a problem with motion sickness. I suppose growing up around boats must have had something to do with it. I can remember back when I was ~14 studying for a science test while in the closed cuddy cabin of my parent's 24 foot Sea Ray, while underway in a relatively rough sea. Absolutely no problems.

I always got a kick out of leaning on the weather side of the mast (or even the headstay) of a sailboat in a rough sea, with water coming over the deck. Of course, being jacked in and having foulies helps make it a fun experience.
