Why delete threads when other people can learn from the information contained in them? That defeats a key benefit of the forum.

Actually you never could delete your own thread. What you can do is change the title, close it, or delete all of your own posts. All of the posts by others will still remain though so if you were quoted they can still see what you wrote and throw darts at you. Maybe you are thinking about deleting a post which many of us do.

You also can't delete a quote of one of your posts in another lister's post.

Members can delete their posts. If yours is the first post in a thread and you delete it, the entire thread goes too. Why the weird title? It is also off topic so I'd be happy to delete the thread for you.
