Default Anyone ever remove and install a Radiator from the bottom ?

Without removing anything but the oil cooler hose to the oil cooler ?
I know Clarks says remove it from the top ...
My stock Radiator driver side, side-tank failed ..
Lucky am I that I have the Griffin group buy Radiator that Bill ran, way back when ...
But I would like to pull it out from the bottom
Any tips before I start
Thanks

Ed

my tip: pull it from the top. you'll still have to pull the airbox and the intake plumbing to be able to re-attach the top hoses correctly.

I pulled two out the bottom within the past two weeks - but am pulling the motors so everything is coming out regardless.

From the top? I didn't even know that was possible. I've always removed it from the bottom. Remove the airbox and the bolts from the crossover tube. Loosen/remove the upper radiator mounting bolts, disconnect radiator hoses, disconnect temp sensor, jack up car. From the bottom, disconnect wiring from cooling fans, disconnect lower radiator hose and unbolt the oil cooler. Tilt the top of the radiator towards the engine to clear the radiator support. Push radiator up, tilt bottom of the radiator towards the engine. Pull straight down.

I probably missed something, but it's pretty easy to remove it from the bottom.

Have done it both ways, more than once, and can say on both it is easier out the bottom than the top!

Default Thanks Guys very much for your responses:-)

I was in one of those turbo charged moments, after the total shock of learning that I had the best looking, no functioning radiator.... I had to push ahead, so I went at it last night and as I told Tom this morning.....
Hey Tom
Got it all out last night ...
After reading all the posts on RL, saying they pulled it from the bottom ... They that can be done if you remove the cross brace ( which I wasn't going to do
So.... I ended up with a hybrid ... 1/2 idiot and 1/2 moron
I pulled away the oil cooler from the bottom( lines still connected) and pulled off 1/2 the MAF and crossbar from the top ( but the crossbar is still in place ( I just had to unbolted it and tilted up a inch or two....
As for the Griffin .. there may be some small grinding that needs to be done around that thermostat port and there doesn't seem to be a place for those steel spring clips that hold the plastic air deflector to the stock radiator ( which had a top lip for it...)
So its onward .... towards the edge of the cliff ......
Thanks again guys
Best regards
Ed

This will really confuse you. The first time I did it, it was from the bottom. The last couple of times, in the process of pulling the motor, from the top. If I did it tomorrow, I'd take it out the top. However, you still should have the car up in the air to get the fan assembly loose and possibly the bottom hoses.

Only done it out the bottom, and have done it a few times over the years.
