Post 944 Turbo Wins GT3S at Mid Ohio

Craig Friesinger took GT3S in a 944 turbo. I can't think of a guy who deserved a win more.

He had a fresh Broadfoot engine die with maybe ten hours. In a scramble to get him to the race Chris White supplied a sleeved block with matching JE pistons. Ken Farler built the engine and delivered the car Wed. night. After a few sessions on Thursday and Friday the head needed to be re-torqued. Steinels pitched in and and did the job LATE Saturday night. We then fought a strange engine management problem all the way to 1/2 hour before the race. Fixed that and Craig was on his way to the false grid.

Since he had problems in qualifying he wasn't gridded in the best of positions. As a result Craig was having fun working his way through the slower cars. He didn't know he had won until he picked up a timing sheet Nice to see a great guy and a 944 turbo take GT3S.

A special thanks to Chris White, Ken Farler and Eric Steinnel for all the time and effort. You put a big smile on Craig's face

Is Ken on the forums? If so what's up, you probably don't remember me. I worked with you at NPA.

Thumbs up

You just gotta love it when a plan works out!
Alan needs a pat on the back for helping Craig out and finding the right people to get his turbo back on the grid in short order.
The block / pistons & rings that Craig used were going to be part of my GT3 engine but Alan called me up with the Craig’s story about the rather expensive 10 hr old engine that was trashed. I felt bad for Craig so I sent him out my stuff and I will begin my project again with Craig’s old block.
So how about a dyno report sometime? I would love to see how the new engine compares with the old one.

Chris,
We will be heading for the dyno in the next couple of weeks. We all need to take a short break and catch our breath.

Thanks again for the help.

Great outcome after all that effort, everybody involved should give themselves a pat on the back. Also great to see a 944 win in GTS3.
