Question Which wastegate is best choice?

I'd like to change my stock wastegate sometime soon
and would like to hear from those that have gone to a
dualport. I plan to use an electronic boost control
with it (ProfecB most likely). I hear the Lindsey unit
is pretty good while others swear the only way to go
is Tial. Any opinions based on experience with the
boost controllers would be welcome as well....

I had a Tial on my 94 3.6 and I have a Tial on my current 951 track car. They work great. With a manual controler the boost curve is dead flat all the way to redline at 22 psi.

While there's NO QUESTION the Tail is a GREAT wastegate, it's a pain to install on a 951 (it was designed for other applications) so you'll have to fabricate or purchase an adaptor which can cost an additional $100-$300.

The Lindsey works just fine and is much easier to install (I've done two) because it's based on the stock housing, not to mention it's cheaper too.

If I had to do it again, I'd save the money and hassle and go with Lindsey.

I had the stock wastegate with a simple MBC and my boost would drop off as the rpm and thus the back pressure in the exhaust built up. it would drop as much as 4psi, though not that much all the time. I decided on the Lindsey dual port modification and was happy with the service and now the boost stays within one to at the most two psi of the set point. The engine seems to build boost a bit quicker also.

I recently had the Powerhaus wastegate installed. It seems to work very well, though it seems very expensive. It is also very large and requires some welding. I had a local shop install it, and even though they have used these wastegates before, they admit it is a pain to install. On they other hand they think they are worth it.

I use a modified(dual port)stock wastegate from
Speed Force Racing. Easy to install, affordable and works great. I run the car @ 19 psi with a manual boost controller, and it retains the boost well.

Speed force racing no longer does dual port conversions. Lindsey is the only place. ken

Doc,
As you had Lindsey wastgates ,I see on their wastgate they want a $300 core deposit on top of the $399 for the wastgate. They say that the wastgate is not refundable if the wastgate is not complete with 'hot housing, diaphragm housing and valve'-why wouldnt my wastgate be complete- they also take off your deposit money for broken studs.
Have you had any problems getting the deposit back etc?
What is the wastegate core anyway?
Im confused- how does this core deposit work?
any replies gratefullt received

Rich, It's not as bad as it sounds. Core deposits are very common. In Lindsey's case, since they essentially modify a stock wastegate, they will use your old one for re-mfg. and sell it to someone else so they want to make sure it's in good condition. That being said, most likely 90% of the stock wastegates would meet that criteria. It's only if you managed to BADLY destroy your stock.

The way the core charge works, is they would place a charge on you credit card and once they recieve your old wastegate, they give you the money back. They should even provide a return shipping box, etc.

They are VERY easy to work with and should pose no problems.

Well the 35mm Tial (which is plenty for me) is only $375 ready to bolt up to the car with SFR's adapter.
Lindseys is $399 ready to bolt up.
They are about the same, whats the advantage of either/one better quality?
I know lindsey makes quality stuff, but the Tial name is very established...
thoughts?

Prices must have come down dramatically, if you can get a Tail with adapter for $375, go for it.

P.S. don't forget the manual boost controler, (it is included in the price of the Lindsey)
