OK, I've read the article but wait! Where's the last page? It states that the 944T beats the 911T at the track and the it states that they are going to them out on the road... and then "No last page... I'm dieing here"
Need the last page. I feel like I read a mystery novel and someone took out the last chapter. Danno, please post the end of the article!!!!!!!!!!!

The above was my reply to you post on the 911 board in response to my post about my brother. I see on this board that you are still scanning. You are a wonderful human being... I'll be patient and wait for you.
OK, done yet??? Just kidding!!!

Danno,
Good article! I think that the 944 was well ahead of it's time and still remains a viable threat to many present-day cars.
Compared to the 993, I think it would be a different story. That version of the 911 is very unlike all it's predecessors, especially in the suspension department. I'm not saying it would win the contest around the track (although it may), but it's newer technology. In the acceleration department, I think the 951S might have the edge (at least from my seat-of-the-pants experience w/ a non-S 951). While the 993 has 282 hp, the turbos tend to have power that seems more "dense". Every turbo car I've driven (w/ less rated horsepower than a n/a version) seems like it's got so much more torque once the boost is on.

That power 'density' that you mention ***** is a great example of how horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races. One of the characteristics of a turbo car is higher torque than HP due to the boost pressure coming on early in the RPM band. (HP=Torque X RPM / 5252) So yes, since acceleration is an "area under the curve" issue, that turbo torque will let you out run cars wiith more HP. I know it let me spank an S2000 the other day
Torque is a measure of work done, HP is the rate at which the work is performed.

Thanks Danno. Has anyone been able to print those pages? I just wonder if it's possible on 8.5 by 11.
That was an amazing article at the end, stronger that I thought it would be. The main point seems to be 944s are for drivers, 911s are for those who want to be seen. That may be an overstatement, but I think it holds water.

Hmmm, you can save the files to your disk, then cut them into two pages and print them onto individual 8.5x11" pages. Or 11x17 would work too. But it'll be too small to read if you squeeze both pages onto one 8.5x11" sheet.
Wasn't there a later article comparing the 951S to the 964 as well?

No way, that's a shallow conclusion. They made it clear over and over that the Turbo S is for people who want the best performance car on paper [fast, economical, practical] and the 911 Turbo is for true drivers who indulge in the experience, ask the car to challenge them, and want to be consumed by the sound and feel. Driving a 911 Turbo is more of a sensual experience, the 944 Turbo is a comfort granted by better technology.
Fun article to read, thanks Danno...I wondered where you got the images of the 951 leaning so much while cornering.
