Default Update for brake duct/driving light insert

I had been curious about the units from LR and have talked to them a few times, and have not seen much movement. I toyed w/ the idea of making something, but I have spent too much time on projects that did not turn out as expected.

I saw the ones from Duetsche Nine and wrote to see if they would so one for the 951, here is what the wrote.

Many thanks for your email.

There is no problem with us developing a complete new product for this purpose within the next 6 weeks.

We do have sourced very good projector light units and also HID kits for this, too.

What we would need from your end is some suggestions and preferences about how this should best look like…As you know the 968 and 993 aperture in the bumper is quite different to the one in the 951, so we need to do something custom, which is no problem but before I develop something I would first like to know what 951 owners would be interested in, style-wise.

Attached are some pictures of our 968 project car, the front is completely custom shaped, as you can see.

If you could do some interest gauging on RL and let me know the outcome that would be great. I am then happy to jump on to development.

Best regards

Benjamin

I am not good w/ photo shop but if someone could take over with drawing the suggestions that would be great. I would hope w/ enough interest we could get a descent price, esp as shipping might be a bit high. I would take care of the purchasing and shipping in the US.

To start

The brake duct needs to support a 3" hose.

For the projector light I think I would prefer a square lens as opposed to a round lens, since the car has mostly square lines. Also I would like to have a single easy to replace buld like the Piaa lights. The LR unit actually had 3 lights which I was not too crazy about.

I want this!
I think the LR looks good, but the simpler (1 bulb) the better.
I will buy this from the first vendor to have it available.

The light should be E-marked and road legal. And square

I'd be interested in this as well, I need something to fill the foglight holes. Obviously it would have to be somewhat reasonably priced, a tall order for a custom product from across the pond.

Here is what they have on the 968. I would prefer square lights, but the ducts look good.

Need to work on prefences such as postion of light and duct as well as size. Feel free to chime in so we can get the ball rolling.

Thanks
Steve

PFFT only 4 people interested??

I thought this thread would be 3 pages by now.

Anyway, what positioning of the light and duct would you think would look and function best? I was thinking that the light on the outside and duct on the iside might look best.

DrZ1 I agree with lighting on the outside...is the overall opening a larger area on our 951 vs. 968 correct?...I like the look and I think it would be really functional...

From the picture it looks like it, since we don't have a corner blinker but rather a front and side. I don't have the measurements so not sure how much larger.

I think it will be very functional, and easy to run a hose to the backing plate as the duct would be very secure to the bumper. I have a set of euro lights in now, so my other option is just mounting some ducts in the lower corner of the opening in the bumper. But I think after seeing how they could look, I rather have this insert rather then the large fog/driving light assembly.

I'd be in if it has a 3" duct.

Well I posted on the Reutterwerk forum and there seemed to be a few complainted from D-9. It was reccommended to try Jan who is building the light CF body. He was interested, so I am working with him on a solution. Sounds like he could provide the molds and the end user would need to insert and secure the driving light.

I will get the approx dimension of a drving light that would fit good functionally and aestheticaly, then send to him so it can be a drop in solution.

I will update as I know more, I have asked him to chime in at some point. And then I would need suggestions for the light.

Thanks
Steve
