Default Bypass Valve question

I'm currently installing an APE MAF unit and have it set up except for the by-pass valve. I had installed an aftermarket bypass valve with only one opening or outlet and plugged the extra outlet hole and the car ran fine. However, when I tried to install the bypass valve and plug the extra hole on the new unit, the plug blew out. I'm wondering, first, if I plugged the wrong outlet this time--I plugged the hole to the intercooler pipe and fastened the bypass unit to the MAF pipe. Or do I need to get a two outlet unit, like the original? Is it possible to run a one outlet bypass valve with the APE? Thanks for any insight you can give me.

In general if you have a MAF kit you can vent to atmosphere. The AFM you have to vent it back in to the intake.
Sounds like your trying to make the BPV work the old way and with the MAF you don't need to. In other words ..bring the noise!

No. No you can't. That air has still been measured and the car will still go rich when the valve opens and it will still probably stall. Unless the MAF setup can compensate for this. Which I believe most do not. Apex-i's AFC Neo can compensate for running an open bov.

I stand corrected, 951's a are little different. looks like it can be done but a bit more involved. I plan on using a Map sensor so I can vent to atmosphere!

actually, you can run atmospheric with MAF's without changing a thing or using a map sensor

the result will be richer mixtures in between shifts and neglegable turbo lag between shifts,

My car drove fine and dandy with a maf kit and blitz bov (no recirc). just had rich plugs. and flames out the tail pipe. I was using a splic second stage 3 kit from huntley racing back in those days with an atmospheric bov . daily driver=

plus it would strike fear in the competition and you could be the envy of the Honda crowd.

aw hell...to tell the truth I love the sound! But the rest of the Porscha community would ostracize me

I already have a PB to use either a MAP or MAF, my other cars use MAP so I'am going that route.

In order to use the nonrecirculating BOV wouldn't I have to hook it up to the MAF pipe and then block off the hole in the intercooler pipe?

no, you hook it up tot he intercooler pipe (the side you want to discharge excess pressure from and plug the intake pipe.

Default Bypass Valve

I was slowly arriving at that conclusion. Somehow it seems it should be the MAF pipe since that hooks up to the turbo, but then I guess the pressure hasn't built yet at that point. Thanks for the input.

I guess the bov installed in wrong direction, the plug shd block offthe air return hose, it shd be no pressure at all and the plug shdnt pop out.
