Well that's a bummer. I bought a new one for my motor when I installed it -- wish I bought a spare. Someone needs to make a hardcore replacement!

I'm willing to do that, if there are enough people interested.

I could even make it out of stainless, if you feel the need for a KEP 2

There could be a demand for this. What do you think it would take to get one made. There's a lot of geometry. to deal with. I believe the O.E. piece is forged.

I would definitely buy one to have as a back-up if someone were to make a sturdier replacement.

I'd suspect with a little looking, find some available unit in parts channel would not be hard (for now).

Anyway, I think the problem with the Porsche fork is that it is too brittle. The few I have seen broken (admitted, only a few) were snapped with almost no deformation anywhere else.

I honestly think that with a different heat treatment, they can be made more ductile, and thus, less brittle. This should be done at a real shop specializing in metallurgy. Not just somebody that advertises "heat treating".

Also, there are really no advantages to having one CNC milled, unless you want to make a bunch of them.

Making them one at a time would be cheaper if there are only a few of you wanting them, and could be made just as strong (If not stronger).

What stainless alloy are you thinking of? Most common SS has a lower yield strength than structural carbon steels.

Something like a Duplex 2205 SS is stronger than typcial carbon steels, but very hard to machine and very expensive. Certainly no benefit of using in a relatively non-corrosive application.

+1

I don't think these are failing due to corrosion.

They haven't been available for about 3 months, and we have been in the process of making a replacement. We knew that someone needed to as it's to important of a part to not be available.
