Default Hints on getting cooling hoses to seal?

Having problems will small leaks, in particular on the large end of the output hose from the water pump housing.

Any tricks on how you can get these to seal and not weep?

Is your waterpump rebuilt? I've seen some with pitting at the sealing surface which could cause your symptoms.

Re-using old hoses? You may need to replace with new.

Unclear on the WP history - pretty recent via the previous owner. There is some sort of casting flaw on the edge of the pump right about where it leaks. I think this is part of the problem.

Hoses are new.

Good ideas...any solutions?

Sounds like you've narrowed it down yourself. Time for a new WP. That's new, not rebuilt...

Try tighten the clamps with a 1/4 inch drive socket, you can put more force on the screw.

Clean the metal mating surface with brake cleaner, tighten with a socket, then re-tighten after a heat cycle.

Good ideas. Anyone had luck with a thin layer of RTV added to the mating surfaces?

I wouldn't do RTV. I use a scotchbrite pad followed by cleaner on cruddy necks and outlets. Torque the clamp in small increments until leak stops, or clamp breaks. If the clamp breaks, go get another one. I recommend the "good" clamps from NAPA, or an aircraft supply place. There is a difference, but it probably wont make or break your leak.

This IS a new hose you're trying to seal, right?
