Post Best Short Shift Kit - Review

There are many Short Shift Kits available for the 951 in the market.

Any feedbacks?

Which is the Best?

Kokeln is priced higher @ about 170 to 180.

The Autothority version is a pain to install but it is pretty adjustable. I broke two bolts while installing mine (but I am known to over-tighten everything). A lot of people seem to be happy with theirs.

I put the SFR one in a couple months ago. The install was pretty easy, and I could tell the difference at first. By now, I'm totally used to it, but I remember it seemed to shorten the throws nicely. It just felt more like the **** should be where it is with the SFR kit. You have to get an adapter or a new **** though.

I'm happy with the SFR kit, however, there is enough stock slop in the shifter setup for our cars that nothing is really that impressive. I've seen a prototype that Ian over at 944online is apparently working on which look absolutely ***** to the wall which I think I will likely switch to when it becomes available and I have the money, as it does seem like it would provide a more solid and precise shift than the stock setup or the normal aftermarket pieces.

How is the SFR unit shaped? Round like the Autothority or like the stock shifter, but just shorter?

I like the autothority piece, it got rid of a lot of my slop in the shifter and gave it an overall firmer feel.

Pics below.... My old stock setup and the SFR replacement.

IMHO, you can do the same thing by chopping off the top and welding a round piece on. Throw a Momo **** on there and you are done. The replacement part looks exactly the same as the one I removed from my car, unless I removed something that wasn't stock.

My hosting service got hit by the virus, so the pics might load slow until things get back to normal.

I have the Kokeln short shift kit on my 89 N/A. I works nice but in low rpm 2 to 3 k you get a rattle from the linkage in the shifter. Gets kind of anoying but shifts are more positive
Hope this helps <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
