UPDATE, Looks like the Porsche Gods were with me on this one <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

No coolant in cylinders all of the hoses around the reservoir look good so installed a new radiator cap, test drive went well, car runs good, so looks like a defective rad cap let the coolant out in the engine bay.

Has been too cold here to do much, will do a leakdown test soon.

Danno, I still want a headgasket when they are ready. Maybe if I have a spare, I will never need it

what are the symptoms of seared rings? my engine is currently sitting in a friends garage awaiting dismemberment. im just trying to hear some good news and that hopefully ive purchased all the parts i need. the last time my car was running, it sounded really really awful at idle kinda like metal clunking around, which is what im concerned about. i know my head gasket is blown, but what are some other likely damages caused by overboost?

It's cold, I can't drive the car, no track events until April. So I might as replace a perfectly good head gasket to fill the car thing void.

Care to help Danno?

Just placed the minimum order for 80 of these babies in 100 & 106mm sizes for the 944/951 blocks. Should be available by the 2nd week in February. Pricing should be around $150 and you can reuse these gaskets several times.

I've been holding off a little because there's a set of head-studs that can go with the gasket as a set. Featuring high-strength 190k-psi steel throughout (not just coated like some of the others) with metric threads and metric nuts. They will also be waisted to provide tension without having to torque them all the way to just below the yield limit. This will also preserve the threads in the block better as well...
