Post New Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 first drive

I got the new tires mounted and balanced today; all I can say at this point is WOW!

I left the shop with about 38psi in them. Road noise, comfort level around town in Little Rock - all excellent. Stopped after a few miles and put the pressure up to 44 all around. I took an old two lane road out of town to the interstate. I then hit I-40 to my exit, where the tires would get a good road run once I got off the interstate. I made a couple of runs up to 90 on the interstate and the car was flawless and quiet.

Hit my exit and had a blast driving home. Cornering stability was really good, the tires just seemed to really bite and road noise is..well what road noise?!!. There was very little traffic so a couple of curves where I would get some understeer previously, I pushed a little harder and the car just turned true and held the line right through. I made one high speed run on a section of road where there is lake on one side and woods on the other. You can see for a half a mile so I let the car move up to 140, not a car in sight, the car was so smooth again,,,well after off boost anyway - with SFR exhaust you hear some great sounds on boost. I was then back to the posted speed limit for the last 10 minutes home. I know they are new but so far I'm impressed. I previously had Sumitomo HTRZ II, not bad for the price but no where near the Goodyear F1.

Nothing like a good confidence inspiring set of new tires. Makes the drive much more enjoyable.

BTW, when you headed down this way.

I think TireRack just had a price increase too. I paid $140/F-225/45/17 and $163/R-255/40/17,,I think that has crept up a bit now.

try Ebay for tires. I saw some 245/45 F1 on there, new, for 175 for a pair.

Just for the night before going to work the next day...but the offer still stands.

I went for a drive today on the other side of the lake with the new Goodyears...Curves, up & down, on boost, off boost, following the shoreline; these tires are some kind of nice!
