So if another vendor(s) were to design their own clear cover, maybe the prices would dip slightly... And there would be a chance at a group buy!

Yep, them's the ones. Conceptually I like it and $75 doesn't seem too bad, my only question is how long they'll remain clear enough to see through effectively. As others have mentioned, there's a fair amount of schmootz inside the covers whenever I take them off...

Not to go too far off topic, but on the topic of clear covers, I always thought someone should make a clear cover for the TDC inspection area at the top of the bellhousing, so you don't have to worry about bolts and stuff falling in there...

if clear covers could be done at a reasonable price point, I'd buy! I'll donate the covers for the molds even!

Whats the point of seeing the belts if you cant check their tension with out removing them anyway?

That's my thinking as well.

How often does a belt get shredded when it fails? That is the only thing you could see visually through a clear cover. You could also see an oil leak, but then you couldn't see the belt anymore.

Most failures seem to be either broken teeth, incorrect tension (Or broken tensioner), or a broken belt. You couldn't see any of those through a clear cover, and most likely if you COULD see them, its because you're parked on the side of the highway wondering how you're going to get home.

Too much worry goes into these belts... set it according to the manual...check it at regular intervals either by removing the top cover, or not having one...and worry about something else.

You could see if it starts fraying, glazing, or otherwise starting to give up the ghost... Or, if your car looks like Crazy Ed's, you can show off your plating work.

Personally with the belt covers I would just install them with way less bolts, so it will only take a min to remove.

I did both actually.

Installed the rear cover section, and sometimes the front lower.
Still allowed reasonable inpection while have the lower protection I wanted.
