Default Jager Engineering Door Handles

Is anyone currently running these on their car? If so, do you have pics of the door handle prior to installation? I'm interesting in doing this upgrade but Jager no longer sells them. From what I've managed to piece together, Jager took VW Mk ? series handles and modified them to accept our door linkage. I can't imagine that it would be too hard to modify some existing door handles to work properly but I can't find any pictures of the Jager handles to compare against the VW units.

I thought about them, but I don't think they would flow so nicely with our cars. 968 handles aren't that bad from Sunset Porsche (at least thats what I told myself after buying them..)

I've got a 968 and I think the handles look very nice on that car. On a 944, I don't think the rounded handles flow with the body lines at all. The doors and mirrors are very angular, I feel it doesn't look right to have a rounded door handle there.

As it stands, it doesn't appear that there are many folks in the community that bought these handles. I had a chance to pick them up on ebay a few years ago but the bidding went above $300 and I wasn't willing to pay that.

Still looking for anyone that has these handles or any experience with them.

The Jager Engineering handle installed:

Backside:

VW Mk 2 "pull" style handle:

Back in '06 Jager posted the instructions on how to modify the VW handles for Porsche use. I finally managed to find it and it appears that it is a DYI-capable project.

I actually prefer the 968 handles. I wasn't too sure when I ordered, but my 44 handles cost almost as much used as new 968 handles.

JMO, but I think the rounded look of the 968 handles are a better look with the rounded bumper, fenders, quarter panels, and hatch glass/spoiler. I did the mirrors at the same time, so I'm not sure how I'd like the mix and match look.

Huh, i kinda like those. Curious to see what kind of modifications they require to fit!

Well, I ordered some Mk2 pull handles and I've got the text (but not the pictures) from the Jager instructions. If it looks like there's no way I can figure out how to do this, I'll order one of the remaining Jager handles and reverse engineer it.

If I can complete this modification, I'll post a "how-to" for folks that would like to do the same. Besides the fact that I'm not a fan of 968 handles on a 944, I injured my wrist pretty badly this last year and it's uncomfortable to open the door on my 944. So aesthetics aside, I've got a medical reason for this upgrade.

I'll be quite honest... hopefully you have a better transaction with him than I did... I bought a dash defrost vent trim piece from him. I was expecting a metal piece since it is list directly above the Classic 9 dash recover pieces. I received a piece of stick on applique that has a nice crack down the middle of it... you know the stuff, like the dash trim stuff that sticks on.... and almost $70 for it.. I was highly displeased and sent him an email about it. I suggested that he make a notation in the description that it was an applique and the dude was a major dick... I wont be sending another dime of my money to his business... just to warn you about his customer service skills...

On the positive side, the handles are going for about $8 on ebay for a set of 4, so the price is right

Its kind of funny when you consider that the 968 door is a 944 door….

I actually like both mirrors, the 944 mirror is a nice traditional look – and its one of the best functional designs as far as use – I have had more than one student realize how good they are when you are out on the track – the coverage is great.

I don’t get the same solid feel from the 968 door handles. I never really liked the pull to open feel – but they do look nice on the 968.
