Wow, what a shame. It was certainly one of the nicest 951s I have seen.

Glad to hear you're OK, I know you have a lot of time, effort, and no doubt a few dollars in the car. I sure hope they are willing fix it. If so, please let me know who you have coverage with!

Yikes! Looks like that would have been a scary moment while it was happening!
Let me know if you need a rear quarter panel, I can cut one out of my parts car which is in great shape!

Ever seen a grown man cry like a 7th grade girl who just missed the cut for the cheerleading squad?

My insurance company just totaled the car. It's officially dead.

I'm in shock.

Buy it back, strip the good parts and drop them in a new tub.

If it's insured for $15K, how did they total it at anything less than 12?

No matter what buy it back - what was their first offer when they called you?

So sorry man!

I'm very tempted. But I'm also very unemployed. And that's a large and expensive project. Timing is everything. I'm going to go crawl under a rock.

I asked the same question - they claim any repair estimated at more than 70% of the car's declared value becomes a total loss, due to the potential for supplemental claims (i.e. other necessary repairs not accounted for in original estimate).

They are paying me $15k, less my deductible. Buyback is 50%, or $7500.

Ugggghhhhhh........ Shameful.

buyback is 7500? LOL, if its totalled they are off by about 5500. Is the 50% buyback written in the contract?

Where is the car? Who has it? What are they going to do with it? Id try and find it at least or see where they are taking it so you can go pick it up.

That's a huge buyback. When I totalled my '02 S4 avant back in '08 I was able to buy it back for $2500 and it wasn't really all that damaged...

Also, if you're unemployed doesn't that give you lots of time to strip the goodies off the car?

If you can buy it back for $2000 or so, it's worth it...

Yea 7500 is a joke, if you don't buy it back watch the insurance pool sites to see where it comes up and buy it there. Even with broker fees ect it should still be under 2.5K

Hmmm...

So it sounds like you have a 951 that's mechanically excellent but fatally banged-up, $7500, and a lot of free time on your hands.

Re-tub.

I didn't read where it was that high. Ouch that's outrageous.
