Could something be done with these?
You probably could use them, but you would have to pull those crap ebay projectors out and put decent projectors in to get the results your looking for.

2001 Infiniti Q45 was the first.

Those would be fine for use with a standard bulb, but you would blind everyone if you put an HID in there. That's not a real projector lense, it's just for looks.

I'm running a IceShark Harness with Ecodes and 130/90w bulbs and can tell you that it's brighter than my neighbors new BMW 5series. My car also doesn't have a dangerous glare associated with many of these "cool looking" lenses. Another note is that this setup allows you to upgrade your Fog/Driving Lamps at the same time.
I'm sure it's bright, and i'm sure everyone driving towards you gets warm fuzzy feelings. :P

+1

Even when aimed properly, a 130/90w bulb is some serious wattage and will definitely get people's attention.

Never had any trouble with people complaining or flashing me.

The only reason I went back to a "regular" bulb was availability.

130/90 Yellowstars FTW!

Read up on E Codes. Oncoming drivers get less glare with these lenses than with standard American lenses.

Not my pics but the below is what I installed. First is a before with standard 951 bulbs on low beam:

After with the Light Cannons on low beam:

Ebay lenses will not do that for you.

Are you sure the "before" pic isn't fog lights? I've never seen sealed beams with that bad of a pattern!

At any rate:
wiring kit $125
E-Code kit: $65
Bulbs: $12
---------------------
~$200

So for the same price i ended up with 35w bi-xenon HIDs that are just as bright but have a real cutoff, and use 1/3 the juice ($10 more buys you the 55w). If the e-codes were half as much i'd have thought twice about it...

These are kinda cool, and you could put them in an ebay housing:

(Lots more like that)

I took the pictures from another post by another Rennlister. Looks like fogs and low beams to me.

I'm sure those bulbs are awesome, hell they might even shine past the bumper, especially in an ebay housing, lol....

found some interesting info on the yellow star bulbs:

HL78155Y - 60/55W 1650 Lumens, 175 Avg Hr life
HL78158Y - 80/70W 1,825 Lumens, 130 Hr Avg Life
HL78159Y - 100/80W 2,900 Lumens, 100 Hr Avg Life
HL78160Y - 130/90W 3,400 Lumens, 50 Hr Avg Life

50 hours for the 90w bulbs, depending on your usage this could be only a couple of months.

That's the problem with the higher wattage halogen bulbs, in most cases, the higher the wattage, the shorter the lifespan. Whereas with hid they will most likely outlast the life of the car.

Yeah, higher wattage halogens can burn out quick. 3400 lumens is pretty impressive though! I think the stock sealed beams must be 800-1000.

LOL, did I mention that the Hella 130/90 bulbs cost about the same as a meal at Taco Bell?

On a side note you should not run this wattage without upgraded wiring.

Could you run HID H4 kit with E Codes lenses?

Sheesh, a $12 meal at Taco Bell?
I could eat at Taco Bell for a week for $12!

Yes, you could put an HID kit in the e-code lenses.
