How many of you would want to buy a 951 off say ebay for Conan to be delivered to the WB studio in Burbank, CA for hopefully a segment on the show?
i.e if we get 150 people who put in $50 each we can get a 951 for $7500 off ebay/craigslist/rennlist ..
I would put $50 to see a nice segment on Conan receiving his 951 and loving it! -- and possibly wise crack back to letterman for his comments on this machine.
Not affiliated in anyway, i'm not even sure how to go about pitching it either .. but i'd like to gauge interest.
-- I just realized Rennlist can't be affiliated at all is that right?

Have you been into the Bitburger again?
Conan should buy everyone on Rennlist a new Porsche like Oprah buys cars for her audience. With the $40 million haul Conan made, he wouldn't even notice the loss of $10 million for Rennlisters.

I'm not thinking of lining Conan's pockets, I know he's rich. It's more donating for an ad, but i get your meaning, he should buy his own.
He doesn't budget his show with his own cash though, it would be more like giving Warner Bros. money to promote their show on TBS.
For me personally, it would promote the car i drive and it would might create some funny drama towards Letterman
Whats a Bitburger? What do you mean again?

what? im the only one??? ahhhh man, I think this is a case of "its the thought" that counts!
sure he can afford it, thats not the point, it more of a how cool the community is. heck maybe he would auction it off for charity.
Im pretty sure that it would make news, and hopefully help us in the long run, or atleast put the spark in to porsche to build us what we want!
However i was thinking more like people donating spare parts they have lying around and put a 951 together! that would be cool.
besides I dont think leno has a 944!
it would probably raise out cars value, think about it, $50 to raise the value of you car $1000? not a bad investment.

News flash, the 944 series died in 1991. Porsche is not bringing the car back and no, the resale value of your car will not go up either. Its hard to find 10% of the people to actually put up money for 'products they want', let alone buying another car. And i gotta say if you bought this car as an investment to sell at a premium in the future....i apologize.
I dont think Conan would give a crap about a 20+ year old 944 Turbo nor do i think the Rennlist demographic is large enough to constitute wasting time on a segment about a car with ground issues, leaking rear balance shaft plugs and exhaust leaks.

Cool idea, wrong TV show. Maybe find something on the Speed Channel to send it to. How about Gearz? Stacey David would love the idea, and I'm sure he'd find something very cool to do with it.

Other wise, the only other option is call your local porsche dealer and put $100 down to get on the list for the "new affordable front engine sports car" (I almost did this for the cayman, till I found out it wasnt $40K but $60K, it was long before the cayman was official)

Jay Leno is the obvious choice for a TV/Personallity Spokesperson. A 'Real' car guy, hands on, no BS, respected by all for his level of detail. It would take two cars, one to be restored to pristine condition, for the garage/museum, and one to be modified to 1000 hp for driving.
