Default E85 - Vitess Stage 2R - No LSD

Well, I started playing with E85 on the VFLEX tune with a Vitesse S2R turbo.

I have run into a big problem.

Here is a 2nd gear roll on.

At about 4500rpm notice how the rate of RPM increase changes. At about 45mph in 2nd gear the car just starts spinning tire(s) on the low boost setting. I tried a few more psi of boost, and the car REALLY spun and instead of just seeing an RPM increase and the rear end kicking out to the right, the RPM increased like crazy, rear end kicked out, and the tires were actually squeeling like cheap, skinny, hard tires on concrete.

This is quite the problem to have. I think my only options are more traction. Thinking of buying some really sticky tires and after that I need a LSD.

I guess it is a good problem to be traction limited.

Lol - I went through a set of 255s in less than 5000miles.
Now have 275s on, and LSD, much better (but will still spin on power alone).

I took a spin in a 996 TT earlier today and we had the same issue.

Well, there is good news...if you're willing to move up to 18x11 rear wheels, A048s are available in 295 treadwidth to match, within 1% of your OEM rolling diameter...how convenient!

Having enough tire but not enough boost is much less convenient

I forget which number I am using. I am using the E85 +35% fuel image.

Boost on that run was 19psi - 2.5 psi for altitude.

The high boost setting is running 20psi absolute and that makes violent spin.

What wheels do you use to fit a 295 under there?? I have 245s on mine on 17x9 wheels and the tires are close to the fenders. I *may* be able to fit 255s. I am not seeing how you guys are fitting 275s and 295s under there.

Do you have rolled fenders? You must be using some strange offset too.

Another thing to consider with the tires, is that it's starting to get cold out. Where I am, we seemed to have skipped the early fall season and went from 90°'s to 60°'s. This has caused a drastic reduction in traction. I run ventus RS-2 in the same sizes, 225/245 and am doing a lot of unintentional intersection drifting,....well the first few times were unintentional, now I just expect it.

Sounds great! Be careful if you are still running a stock clutch -- it will start to spin too around 350rwhp or so.... Tires will spin in lower gears, but in higher gears it tends to be the clutch.
