Unless you've got something seriously different going on under your fenders you can fit 285s rear easily. What offsets are your rears? What year model is your car? There may be plenty of room on the inside that you are not aware of if you have the wrong offsets. You can run 285s on the front of our cars with a little persuasion and the right suspension / setting. 245s on the rear are doing you no favours.

A 18x10 rim with a 295 tire will fit on the rear with 65mm offset.

Do you have rolled fenders? You must be using some strange offset too.

I didn't say I use 295s, just that you COULD use them if you're willing to move up to 18x11, and yes I think that might require rolled fenders, a little. I run 275s on 17x9s, which fits nicely.

Yep, you can easily fit an 18x10 ET65 with a 285 tire in the back. My race tires are 17x9 ET55 with 275's, streets are 18x10 ET47 with 285's.

My Fikse's are 17x 10.5 and are shod with 275's. Zero issues fitting back there with stock sheet metal.

Car will deadhook just fine with a proper tire under it. At 18psi my v2 would dead hook second gear easily.

Not at all to take away from the point I'm pretty sure you are trying to make here but I'm guessing part of your issue is it's cold outside.

My basically stock car gets a little sideways around 3500rpm chilly mornings (~50s) with my 16" Pilot Exaltos (225s) in 2nd gear - and *really* sideways ("Don't try this at home, folks!" - kind of sideways) on cold 285/30/18 Sport Cups.

Stock 26/6, Welt chip, 3" exhaust, TiAL 38, Guard TBD (LSD), MBC set to 14.5psi in 4th (so around 13 in 2nd.)

Sure is fun though. Put an LSD in your car and have even more fun drifting everywhere while it's cooler out!

Couldn't you get sideways in a Corolla on Exaltos?

I has been warm here this weekend with intense sun. Pavement was warm. Of course it wasn't 100 degrees + hot sun warm.

295 on 18X11 took a lot of fender rolling on my 86. It was rubbing a bit on the outside and a bit on the inside.
For those running 305, is that on 18's or 17's? And 10" or 11" wide?

'86s don't have the pre rolled guards either. They look very flush!
