Default Chips Comparison

I was wanting some opinions on the different chips maybe how much power you made with them. Any info would be good. I don't want this to be a pissing match, but a nice clean comparison of the different chips.

Maybe include specs like Boost, Turbo, any other mods you have, Dyno if possible, any problems with any of them.

Authority
Weltmiester
MaxHP
Lindsey Racing Chips
Vitesse

I would like this to be an uber thread where in the future people can look at it and decide what chips would be good for them.

I guess I will chime in here. I have autothority stage two chips on my 88 turbo s and have learned a few things about them from rennlist. I know that they have a tendency to run lean on the top end and are "dated" as far as chipsets for our cars go. I have plans to replace the authority with lindsey chips or MaxHp. Not willing to spend the extra for vitesse because I havent read anything that warrants the extra $$$. Correct me if I am wrong.

If I had the money, vitesse would be the route I would go. safe afr's at all boost levels when programmed correctly. Plus great support.

dillion- What chips do you have now? I am assuming the same as I do from your signature(stage II chips). Do you notice your car running lean or had any problems? I dont expect them to kill my engine, as they have been on since '93, but dont have an AFR or O2 to tell.

yeah, I have the autothority stage 2 chips and MAF. I don't have a wideband O2 either. I just don't have the money for the best.

Dillon- do you like your maf? thought about buying the maf but thought that replacing my chips might be a better move. Have you dyno'd your car?

Vitesse. Maybe it was just me...as I know others have had great success with the 951MAX chps, but my car ran like **** with them.

I put the Vitesse AFM chip + Accuboost and my car ran better than stock - good smooth power and boost came on faster and held much better. I was at 15PSI.

I was so impressed that I went with the full Vitesse MAF and never looked back. I waited out a good deal on a Stage 2 Turbo and can't wait to get it in.

I say go Vitesse - the guy knows how to tune our cars.

Newbie chiming in here.

I've been considering a MAP setup but it seems from searching here that a Vitesse MAF is a more common setup for a 951. Is a Vitesse kit better than a Lindsey basic kit as far as modifying an otherwise bone stock 951?

I don't plan on turning up the boost but I would like a MAF or MAP setup along with a larger exhaust, 3" or 4", to compliment some other basic mods and get rid of the stock AFM.

I have not dynoed it. I bought the car with the MAF and chips. It pulls hard when its running good.

newbie here too...I have a stock turbo with mods listed in sig. I have resisted a MAF because I don't think the stock turbo flows enough to warrant the upgrade??

After a previous thread i did verify my turbo is stock. The car pulls VERY hard though boost does drop at redline. Otherwise I run 17psi and it flies. It "is" possible I've seen 160mph indicated and the car was still pulling! Or..was that a dream

A good MAF will make a noticeable improvement in throttle response and should get the turbo spooling a bit quicker.

I"ve been around a while, and run a bunch of different chips, including:

Steve R
Autothority
Weltmeister
Guru
Vitesse

Vitesse is hands down the best of the bunch. Best performance, best support, best value for the dollar. Dyno'd better, idled better, started better under all conditions, ran smoother, pulled harder, etc etc. No joke, if you've experienced Vitesse chips after running someone elses then you know why Vitesse customers are so vocal about Vitesse products.

I haven't run MAXHP/Lindsey chips, so I won't/can't comment on them.
