Just picked up 2 cases of Vavoline VR1 20-50w after reading tons of threads about "best oil" here on Rennlist. I wanted to take advantage of Vavoline's 2 for 1 rebate which expires July 31st.
The whole life of my car (before I owned it) it's always been Mobil 1 0w-40.
Just needed a supportive response to making the change...
North East Garage queen driven only between 50 - 85 degree days.
Thanks!

Although we are/were a fan of VR1 for years, I believe we switched SKI from Mobil 1 to VR1 a while back, we don't think it's good enough by itself. Although they state "more ZDDP" on it's bottle, there are different qualities of ZDDP.
You probably paid in the $6-7 range for it. Joe Gibbs now has Hot-Rod 15w-50 which is a detergent dino
oil. It's $7.99. That's as good as it gets, and offers in our opinion the best protection against engine wear and parts failure your going to be able to find.
It's worth the extra dollar or two. We don't care if you buy it from us or not. Just buy it if you care about your engine. We do.
If we run VR1, which we no longer have any reason to, we would add the ZDDPlus additive.

So you would even recommend the Joe Gibbs dino if currently running fully syn?
