Default FS 89 2.7L motor and 88mm 3L crank

Cross post, I posted this in the classified.

Clearing out the garage. 944t project that never got started. 2.7L motor is complete minus intake. 88mm crank has been straightened, micro polished and deburred. Asking $1400 for the motor and $1000 for the crank. Local pickup in So Cal is preferred but will arrange for shipping.

OTOH you can always just buy a running 89 NA and pick the 2.7L parts you want and sell the rest.
Edit: 89 2.7L sold yesterday

How do you get a 2.7 out of a 3.0 crank and standard bore pistons? Is this motor steeved?

Correct. Now my question is whether this is a NA motor? This was for his turbo project.......May not be revelant on this list.

Build specs would be helpful.

Getting a good short block, 2.8 head, and good crank for a few grand for a 3.0 turbo project is a good deal.

"never got started " to me says never stripped the second hand motor to start building... it is completely relevant to this turbo forum .. we all know that a 2.7 with a 3.0 crank and custom pistons is a good thing as you can bolt 951 bits to it ... what he's selling is missing the correct pistons but its buts its definatly all the rare bits needed for a 3.0 8v turbo..

Just to be clear, this is a complete 89 2.7 NA motor minus the intake. And a separate 88mm crank. I'm in Orange County, Huntington Beach.

The 89 NA 944 was the only year Porsche made the 2.7L maybe that's the confusion?

Yeah....was still thinking the 2.8 issue. This would be a great turbo project motor.

I paid $1500 just for the 3.0 crank. It was new, but this is a great deal. The machine work added a few more bucks.

I hope this gets into a good project. Again, great deal.

What do you mean when you say the crank was straightened -- were the mains turned down?
