Default Rock guards/no rock guards?

I've read some previous posts and wanted to get some fresh responses/opinions.

I just spent the last two nights peeling the 23 year old rock guards off the car. BTW, I found that "bug & tar" remover works well to loosen the adhesive and then scrape, scrape with a plastic spatula. Of course a number of beers helped...Modelo Especial to be exact

The car looks MUCH better now.

So, the question remains (replace them or not)?

Mainly street duty and a few time trials thrown in.

Yes, replace them. Or at least the rear ones. My car doesn't have any, and while the front fenders still look fine, the area in front of the rear tires are destroyed. At this point, the area probably consists of 30% touch-up paint.

I'm replacing mine. It seems that in the aircraft, motorcycle, and especially the 951 world, almost every time I do a modification, it's original purpose is painfully revealed.

Great way to look at it... Go without them for 6 months and you'll see how much they really get abused. I'd vote replace asap.

Got mine from Vertex Auto. I guess as far as stone guards go, they seem to be doing their job.

You can also double up 2 layers of 3M clear bra material... I've got a mate running this on a 996tt and 2 years later they still look great. Gives the apperance of no guards but still has the protection.

that's a great suggestion...I know there is a local Invisibra company that advertises in the PCA newsletter.

Put them on with soapy water, and you'll be really pleased with the results.
