You can get them from most turbo rebuilders, if they know their 3k parts, but I like Charlie:

Dan,
Used to be able to buy them from a Borg Warner dealer, often less expensive than through aftermarket porsche shops. They will not be a stocked item, so you would have to wait for the dealer to order it.
Borg Warner has a new website and I can no longer find a products page for individual turbochargers. Used to show both the K26/6 and K26/8 by both KKK and Porsche part numbers. And ironically, the K26/8 was the same price as the K26/6. About 5-6 years ago they listed for around $900. When I was looking to buy one about 3 years ago, they had increased to $1200.

I just recieved a k26/8 rebuilt from Lindsey Racing. I had LR rebuild a k26/6 a couple of years ago. Dave runs an awesome shop and has helped me with tech info numerous times. Lindseyracing.com

They are still available new, they just cost a heck of a lot more than they did when the dollar wasn't so weak. All the new german parts prices seem to have gone up a minimum of 30% over the last couple of years. Doh.
