Who cares about the numbers; I agree.
But, what about some of your components?
Is it a dry sump motor? What turbo? Exhaust? Solid lifter?

For those of you guys that aren’t into the club racing world there are actually good reasons not to toss out HP numbers, especially in ‘print’. In GT racing the different classes are based on ‘theoretical’ horsepower output from a well-built engine. By posting numbers on an engine that performs quite well you are only giving ammo to the folks that prefer ‘other’ Porsche engines…you know, the ones that forget to use coolant…in addition to that you may also give your completion a reason to upgrade their engine as well.

Yeah, its part of the ‘racing’ game and if you have a crap load of your time and cash involved in your race car then why would you want to risk having either the rules changed (like what happed 3-4 years ago) or your competitors all trying to copy your project?

If you are really interested come on down to Watkins Glen in a couple of weeks and watch John go fast!!

Dudes....... they gave us a nibble, we can extrapolate from there and arrive at an estimated HP at a certain boost level, and respect John's wished not to post actual numbers. Pretty dang impressive !

Thanks Patrick, and well said Chris.

I appreciate everyone understanding. I have a feeling when Chris is done building his 16V you will see something you can sink your teeth into and it will most likely be more then my puny 2.7L.

Jon, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that anytime soon.

If everything goes well, I sure will post some, but I can't guarantee how exciting it will be.

Is it me or there is a very very very light crank? Pistons and rods must be very light too and frictions must have been kept as its lowest...

Hear the engine decelarating...

there is also a dyno brake that slows it down.. so may not apply here?

Chris.. the limitations in Porsche GT racing is so harsh on the 16v, I can't imaging them getting any worse.. As it is, you have to ADD weight to a STOCK FULL WEIGHT car to match their rules.. (3 liter 16v) So.. I give a big whatever to that keep it quiet theory based only on the GT series.. NOT a hit meant for you.. its meant for Porsche GT rules. . But this may also explain why its a 2.7 liter? Anyway...

335hp at 9psi = gives you a rough 200whp no boost.. - nice by the way - so extrapolating from there, 15psi is around 400whp and 20psi is around 475whp.. assuming efficient turbo for each psi. There.. I just expanded on current info as best guestimate, disclaimers: It all depends on guessed turbo setup efficiency designed for each psi statement, and assuming the 9psi run was at max efficiency. (Prob wasnt) etc, etc. etc. So thats' about as close as you can get to the actual numbers. Real meaty info would also be how much torque from where to where and what gearing. That's what I would like to know.

But so glad to see 16 valve projects. Very happy to see something different. - well, and something to compare mine to.. lol
