Default OPRV in Head

I am not exactly sure how to install this valve/assembly. I followed the procedure in the Factory Service Manual to remove, but I can't seem to find how to install. Does it get pressed in? This is the last piece that is holding me up from getting the head back on. Thanks

Are you talking about the check valve in the head? Some info on model year and block number would help. The check valve and procedures changed between early and later production run 944 engines.

Check valve or relief valve I guess I don't know what they call it exactly. It is the one in the head. The guide, ball and spring.

Yes, it is pressed in. Don't bother trying to remove the seat. Just replace the spring ball and oring.

How is it pressed in? The manual does not say how to install just remove. My thought is to just use a socket that is the same size and use a dead blow hammer and lightly tap it in. I thought somewhere it would say how far to drive it in though.

You drill into the cap and tap it to M8 then pull it out using a bolt. Then you stick in the new ball and spring and press in the cap. All the parts together are only $15 or so, very cheap.

I can't really see from the picture in above post - is the diameter of the hole constant?

I'm not sure I understand where the ball sits when the engine isn't running.
