Just 'CLASSIC' Your pics are too cool for words. With all the bits and pieces you and your son have collected and refurbished, how do you keep them organized? Must be a warehouse behind the garage. And as far as the international theme goes, dont forget- Born in Germany, and admired around the World.

Most of the parts have been powder coated and some of them are still at the platers shop to be yellow passived. Most undergarriage parts got rather dull "Platinum Grey" powder on them. We wanted to use powder coat, because it would be easier to keep these parts clean compared to "plain" aluminium. Here's picture of one control arm from where you get the idea of the color we used.
As a side project we re-contioned front brakes of friends 951

You might be right but at least she was gourgeos !
Started to restore steering rack we got from a friend. It's a total mess, but still useable. Put it to the parts, now waiting for some soda blasting for aluminium parts and fresh yellow passived surface for "tube". I found ZF repair kit from my stock of unused parts
(here's poor quality phone picturs)
My son bought a set of '88 951 S CS wheels. Also these wheels needs to be restored. Wheels need some mechanical work and after that some kind of new surface. Any ideas what should be done ?

Restored clutch cylinders.Removed surface rust, then re- painted them. Since we are on tight budjet we used Mercedes W124 rubber parts, which are a direct fit also to 951. Total cost less than $10

Got yesterday a pair of "good as new" 964 front calipers. These will be the rear calipers of sons project.
Front calipers will be 951 S ones which are coming from a another friend. We are forced to use moped brakes instead of GT2/GT3 combo because 16" CS wheels does not allow to install that big brakes.

Think of you and your son often Olli, every time I come across a sad abused part, I now think of it as a diamond in the rough. Thanks for the continual inspiration. Also appreciate the info for good substitutes. Carry On!

Thanks for your kind words. For us it's mostly the matter of money. Young student can't afford to buy new parts. Luckily we know how to cut these rough diamonds
Calipers were so sooty; that i put them for overnight citric acid bath
Calipers were sooty, rusty etc. because they came from this burnt 964 C4 and after 964 was wrecked they sat in backyard of my friends Porsche shop almost six months
I suppose most of soot will be able to wash off tomorrow morning. After that we will remove slide plates and pop off the pistons. Then some media blasting and calipers can be re-suface again to their glory again like they were when Luigi assembled them in Bergamo, Italy years ago

Disassembled calipers. Some difficulties with burnt seals, which glued pistons very effectively. Also had to use mig to couple of screws to be able to take them off. Otherwise "business-as-usual" caliper job. Now they are ready to get a new surface.
