If your asking about core thickness it is 3.5".

Yes, and its height?

Edit : sorry the dimensions are mentioned on the SFR site, hadn't noticed before.

Pushed the car hard for the first time with the FMIC over the weekend and everything was fine. Coolant temp stayed low, and the intercooler core itself stays really cool.

Ive put about 100 miles (with plenty of 3rd gear pulls) and still have not noticed any change in water temps. I figure whatever air the core is blocking is not nearly as bad as what my 120k mile a/c condenser was blocking. When i took it out, it was like a dropped a bucket of sand on my head. I did scare the crap out of myself and had the throtte body / charge pipe coupler blow off.. thought i blew my motor up. Was in 3rd gear at full boost where power just completley stopped like someone flicked a switch, followed by the mega loud sound of air from the turbo just venting. Had an epic fireball out the back when i lifted!

If only we could all do without a front registration plate - the bumper could be cut and allow to get fresh air into the whole area of a FMIC.
With an unopened front bumper I don't see how a FMIC is going to be more efficient than a stock unit.

Jon, do you think the hard pipe between the IC and the TB is now cooler than with the stock IC?

Thom, i only put about 900 miles on the car since installing and most of that was just highway cruising (offshore for another 3 weeks). I have not had a chance to do a track day and dont think i will till the end of the year at the earliest unfortunately. I usually drive pretty tame on the street (i follow the low and slow creed of just crusing.. ), so no sense in trying to quantify results there. Something that is interesting is my AFR's went from 11.4'ish at WOT to 11.8 aprox. at WOT after the front mount. I do not have the piggyback for the car yet.. it was on my plans this summer but i am debating selling the car right now, so all of that is on hold. I cannot say if this change in AFR is a result of possibly 'adjusting' something or if it is a result of a more dense air charge.

I've had mine out for a couple track events now. It's too hard to compare touching the pipes to the previous intercooler because of day to day variation in weather etc.. Stuff still gets hot, I can tell you that. I feel like I have a bigger margin for more boost or a bad tank of gas now than before. My lap times are unchanged.

I did get the oil cooler in and man those lines do get hot.

Thanks for the feedback - Did you guys notice a difference in spool up? Did you feel more lag over the orignal unit?

If anything, I'd say the spool up is better. I've been able to get off the line a lot quicker and more consistently this year without bogging.

I also agree, i have seen zero difference in spool up and throttle response. My guess is whatever difference there is in extra piping / larger core is made up for in much better end tank design. I am actually looking forward to seeing the difference i get when i fix the exhaust leaks from my crossover wastegate inlet pipe. The crush ring is completely shot and leaks pretty badly.. will be nice to have a turbo that actually spools up!

Get yourself an air temp gauge before and after. At least after. It shouldnt be much above ambient on the cold side even after a good session at the track!

I'll datalog my next track day and see what I come up with. I unfortunately won't have a good back to back comparison.
