Just curious to know if there are any other Nile green cars here on the RL? I've really fallen in love with the color of my car & would like to see pictures of others...
Thanks

As far as I know, it was only offered on the 951 in 1988... It's a very dark metallic green that has a significant amount of dark gray in it. In most light conditions it appears a metallic black/dark gray color, though in sunlight the green comes through.

That is a very nice lookin color. There was one guy on RL that painted his car a forest green color that looked great as well. Not a factory color though.
So, who else has this color? Pics are mandatory!!!

yep Karls got a good memory, mine is also Nile Green. It's really is a nice color. Its often seen as Black.
My shell was manufactured in 86, registerd as an 87. Dual air bags, late offset, no ABS, although it does now.
Pic is just after I re-shelled, the car is different now, but retains the Nile Green paint.

So the big question is, did Ron pass you? lol
Sorry I won't get to check out your car at the Club race, Richard, but I will be out on business.

Scott,
All I can say is that I can be very wide, when I want to be, and my lines get very ragged. I have even been known to move sideways when approaching braking points and turn ins. Go figure!
Shame we won't be seeing you in April, your a staple.
Nurburgur,
Yes the earlier pictures were first time out with the new shell at Hallett last year. I have all kinds of excuses, but the fact is I ended up going off into the tire wall, so had to do some front end bodywork over the winter.
These pictures are recent, but the shots look awful, so you can't appreciate the color. I am just finishing numbers and graphics ready for Heartland Park in April.

So how was the paint blending process?? I ask because I have a euro rear bumper, 968 mirrors & door handles waiting to be painted....
The body paint is in very nice / fresh condition, so I'm hoping for a good match.

The shell had already been repainted before I got it. It wasn't a recent respray, it was a nice job. I took my paint code plus a headlight cover to my local supply shop. I used Dupont Chromaloy (IIRC).
I colored and clear coated the header, front bumper cover, the covers for the foglight appertures, drivers fender, drivers door, sunroof panel and rear bumper.
Its not a perfect match. You can see shading differences, but for a race car its close enough. I actually prefer the new color, its slightly darker and richer than the previous paint. Not sure which one is closer to the original Porsche color. If you look at the bumper cover to the passenger fender you can see a difference. It looks to be a bigger difference in the photo than reality.
I don't think you will have any trouble matching as the parts your painting have gaps and seals etc seperating the different paints. I painted my rear bumper and Its hard to tell its different.
The best way to match, is to have the paint tinted to a panel on the car, and not just a color number. But even then its difficult to get it perfect.
