Default How many lbs of boost do you run on the street?

Just wondering how many lbs of boost you run on the street. How much boost can you run on a stock rebuild? I hear many numbers spoken of but I don't know if it is with a stock head gasket. I would like to increase the boost but I don't know what is reliable. I think stock it should be about 13# from 3800 to 4600RPM's. How far off am I.
I do autox and a few DE's a year so the most is weekend trips and around town. I am out of town with it more than in town, so it needs to get me home. If I can get the Apexi unit working right I would set different level of boost for each gear. I see on here some have got that working.

if i'm feeling frisky i run 16psi at high boost...i could go more but its pretty solid where that is for me. I usually run low boost at 10psi which is still a bit of power.

17 without a tune on 93 at the moment. Thought I would add, this is on a Vitesse stg III with all supporting mods. Any higher it would go kaboom. With a good tune.... I dont know? 20?

i was running 22 on 98 and some guys are running 25 on e 85 but i sure wouldn't recommend either ..
how much boost you can run is more about the level of tune the fuel available etc ..
i think the first thing to consider a car with 3" exhaust and reasonable tuning will perhaps run out of injector by 18psi .
so i guess I'm saying i wouldn't go beyond 18 with out a wideband set up ..

I like the responce, keep it up. Thanks for providing the fuel type and octane. That is important. I am adding 3 bar fpr and SFR 3" cat back this week. The Apexi and Zeitronix will be in April, as will as the Maxhp chip. What difference will the 3 bar fpr make with the stock injectors?

I'm running 16 according to my AEM Boost gauge(supposed to be 15). Drops to 13psi at high RPM.

I would imagine the 3 bar reg it would result in about 7 to 10% more fuel.. i wonder if it worth going for a little more fuel pressure again..

NONE!

Don't screw with the boost until you know what your chips and AFR are actually doing/reading. Those of us running higher boost are doing so with full knowledge that our chips and engines can handle what we are doing.
Deviate at the peril of your engine and wallet.

Uncle Chop Chop loves you.

1.5 bar on an old engine was enough for now...
