Default Is it possible to put a 928 engine in a 944 chassis?

ok, i've seen many LS1 fitments to a 951 chassis but i have never seen a 928 engine installed. i realize maybe you will be limited in HP compared to the LS1 but you should be able to get around 400. however, where does a 928 engine compare in terms of weight? i've heard that the LS1 engine weight is similar to a 951 engine (which i don't fully believe since LS1 cars seem to weigh more than 951's from what i've seen.

personally, i'd rather keep the car all porsche with a 928 engine. or maybe a twin turbo 928? surely someone must have done this? any links?

An LS1 is heavier than a 951 engine but believe it to be some where around 40 to 80 lbs so it doesn't ruin the car at all .
The 16v V8 could posibly be a super tight fit in there. the 32v V8 is about 1.5 wider than the inner guards so is a NO .. there are a couple of cars around with it done i did see a 32V one but the car was fabricated from the windscreen forward it would be nice to do as 928 motors arn't realy worth much ..
but they would cost heaps to rebuild ..

Are you a certified member of AARP? Do you use Rogaine? Do you take birthday cake to social functions to get laid? Is a good day no failure of Poli-grip? Then yes, you should consider a full blown 928 with enough 401k to work on it and get parts.
