Default New Aluminum Radiator / Oil Cooler

New product coming out….
If you are interested in the ‘right’ way to add an oil cooler….how about a new all aluminum radiator with a built in oil cooler? The oil cooler is available with any size AN fittings (I use AN16 for dry sump and AN12 for stock oil systems)

The water section is a little thicker than stock but a stock replacement bolt in solution. I have been working with a radiator fabricator to get this available. All parts are CNC laser cut and tig welded. 1st quality fabrication. Price is $1k – a pretty decent deal if you were looking to add an oil cooler of this quality.

Anybody interested?

As always - you can email me directly chris@944enhancement.com

I just have to get over the mental (spending) hurdle. I currently use two stock units behind the fog buckets. This would really simplify things.

Seems like a good deal to me. Factor in the cost of a new radiator when your plastic end tanks start leaking, plus the cost of oil cooler core and all the lines / fittings to hook up oil coolers. Is this going to be an order at anytime item or are only a few being made?

you can order it anytime....but now is always nice!

Yeah - its a great deal if you are upgrading with the rad or the oil cooler but a little tougher if you already have those!

I don't have any pics...once you put the fans on and install it there is not much to see!!

Um....its winter up here...no track testing yet!!! Based on the cooler size and location I know it will do the job. I am using the same radiator in my 3.1 16v dry sump turbo. You can't really make any fair comparison with that set up!

$1k is a lot for an untested design. I'd rather keep them separate as some al radiators are known to crack.

Aluminum cranks...plastic cracks....they all crack if not fabricated / installed and maintained correctly!
A temp in / out number is irrelevant unless you are making the comparison on a car with the same aero package, at the same ambient temps and humidity and the same track conditions.
I can tell you form a testing stand point that you will not find a better cooling air flow through an oil cooler on a 944 unless you start tube framing the front end. I have installed many oil coolers over the years and the exit path of the air is a big issue. You can put the largest oil cooler in the world in the nose of your car and if you don’t have decent exit ducting you are not going to get the best performance out of it.

If you would like to check out my testing data feel free to stop by and go over it. We can go over wind tunnel testing…cad testing ….which ever you feel like.

If what you have is working then you don’t need this. It’s a simple as that – same goes for most other performance products. If what you have is not satisfying your needs then, as far as water and oil cooling, this will.

and if you really want numbers....the output side of the oil cooler is right about 40 degrees right now...going down to 20 later tonight.

Yes, the stock oil cooler is a known weak point - it does not cool enough for modified engines or even stock engines as the track.
